looking for a dvr card for a htpc

    anyone recc one? im tired of renting the fios boxes we have at 20$ a month. i have a htpc but it lacks a recording card. any thoughts i want BEST quality i can get..

    I always use hauppagauge. Though I can't recommend a current model, the ones I have are the pvr-150. Its a standard definition tuner card I record at 1200mb per hour which is good enough for me but it can go up to 4gb per hour for better quality.
    One thing to remember for a htpc you need to get tuner cards with built-in hardware mpeg2 encoders, the cheap tuner cards don't have this. With these type of tuner cards, your pc will record in the background without ever using your computer cpu. I have 5 of these tuner cards in my htpc, I can record 5 shows at the same time without any problems.

    This is one area where you need to do alot of research to make sure you get the right card pci/pci express also how your signal comes to you. check the hdtvtunerinfo.com for more info.
