What is it exactly that you don't like about the service? Be specific. And I have to tell you, I'll be surprised if I get a clear, definitive answer from you.

 

I wasn't pointing out the service, I was pointing out the site...

I'm certainly not saying this person is not putting his best foot forward and trying to offer something decent. I'm just saying that based on what I'm looking at and reading, I'm not going to connect to it and I wouldn't recommend it to anyone either...

But I think this thread was intended for a critique of Cryptocat on the merits.

You can't judge a book by it's cover, especially in security. Aesthetics doesn't matter, it's the code that's important. If people followed your horrid advice, they'd believe in Fake AVs and every other social engineering trick.

 

With judging the cover, having good experience you can come pretty darn close and that's all it takes...

Right now you're judging me based on my lame reply and I apologize I didn't explain better, so in reality you are doing to me what you say you can't...

I'll be honest I didn't really go into much depth here and I certainly made it seem like I'm just looking at something and saying that looks like crap and therefore I don't trust it based on that and that alone.

I'm just saying you have to use all your senses and best judgment here and in time with experience you'll catch on better to using your sense of sight for the internet...

It's not horrid advise I just didn't explain myself very well and I apologize for that.

Hi DasFox,

I was once criticized for my very plain looking black and white slides by a marketing type that had all the bells an whistles in their own presentation such types use to further the "wow" factor in presentations. The classs instructor countered (to defend my approach) that my presentation was jam packed with actual content!

In any case, I would advise everyone when asked or not what they think (even if they don't think first before they speak/or write) to look underneath the hood first to see what they have!

Yes of course you have to look under the hood, I'm not discounting that, I was saying before, use all your senses when online, and as Geeks, sight is one of them when checking out a website too.

Of course to the unexperienced, untrained eye this isn't going to amount to much and I was never talking about just anyone being able to look at a site and tell, I was talking in reference to being very experienced...

To the experienced trained eye of a Geek this is not BULL!
