Free video editing Software

Hi guys can you name any good free video editing software like premier pro. Any suggestion will be appreciated. I need it for windows 7 64 bit version. Thanks.

 

I don't know if it's "like premier pro" or not, but I'm a fan of Avidemux: http://avidemux.sourceforge.net/

 

You could always try windows live movie maker. I've never used it so i cant comment on how good it is, but it is free.

Hi guys, thanks for your replies. So which one is better among the four software say Avidemux, VirtualDub, VideoSpin and WL Movie Maker?
I am asking this because I don't want to install and uninstall software.

You may need to try all of them to see which is better for your needs.

 

It all depends on your goal, what do you want to do with the video's ??
If you want time-line editing with transition effects.. then use videospin or movie maker e.t.c., if you want to filter/tweak/correct/improve the quality of the video like denoise, color/contrast/sharpnes/deinterlace... correction, than use virtualdub and avidemux, or even better use avisynth in combination with virtualdub or other video editing software.

 

VirtualDub is great for working with .avi files. Avidemux natively supports a lot more input and output formats, though not .wmv as an output.

The other two I don't know about.

There's always SUPER, but that software can sometimes be difficult to get installed properly, not to mention has a lot of other 'unique' behaviors.
I have it installed and I use it sometimes, but specifically recommending it is something I'm unable to do.

 

SUPER is a video converter, and Echilis needs EDITOR.
Virtualdub can work with ANY type of video file using avisynth as an input, you can separate, join, crop, resize, overlay, deinterlace, change framerate, change the speed of the video or audio, add subtitle, add logo, "improve" or restore video quality... etc, BUT the output is avi, the input is not a problem.
If you want to use transition effect's or something like that.. virtualdub is of no use, but you can easily frameserve from virtualdub to another video editor/converter to finish/add some editing , and encode it to other format (mpeg2, wmv..).
There is no free (all in one)editor like "premier pro", you will have to use several free tools.

 

You're right-- SUPER is no editor. I shouldn't have mentioned it.

Avisynth is not a native component of VirtualDub, and a separate set of skills are required to create scripts with it.
Using VirtualDub only, many formats are not acceptable as inputs.

Avisynth can also be used with Avidemux, yet without it many formats are still acceptable as both input and output.

I have minimal skills with video editing but I can run ones with decent GUIs and user friendliness. While VirtualDub may be an excellent program, it is far, far from easy to use. I have tinkered with it a half a dozen times and have given up every time with no useable output...

 

Echilis, what do you want to do with your video??
There is a free version of "MAGIX Movie Edit Pro 15 Silver" , you can do a lot of things with it, but the free(silver) version has some limitations

Hi pirej I want to edit video like cutting, sharpening and burn them on dvd. Is it possible with a free software.

 

Hmm.. strange, If you go directly to the link.. then there is no free version offer, but if you go to http://www.videohelp.com/tools/VideoPad_Video_Editor then on the right side you choose "Download (author site)" then THERE IS a free version offer, and the link address is the same...!?!!?!?

For that kind of editing you don't need anything special, you can do that type of editing on every free video editor, maybe avidemux is simpler to use.. so try it, and for the burning part.. there are free burners too.
