Experimental protection 64 bit

Hi, I was just wondering if most users have this option enabled. I was quite scared of not being able to boot, if in the future something changed and caused BSOD.
However,having read this post http://www.sandboxie.com/phpbb/viewtopic.php?t=10720 it seems a BSOD would happen after booting, so am i right in thinking, this would allow you to reboot then disable the experimental protection ?

I believe you would be right, as tzuk posted about that in the linked thread. If this wouldn't work, I think you could disable it in safe mode, or atleast use the uninstaller.

 

Keep a copy of os drive image just to be sure

 

or use eaz fix , the best solution for test lab pc

 

Doesn't BSOD me. I'd say it's worth the risk.

 

I use the experimental protection since version 3.55.04, without any problem.

 

IIRC it takes about 10 minutes to crash the computer after turning it on (idk the chances of that happening) so you have plenty of time to turn it off.

 

using the experimental x64 also for 2 days see ZERO problem.
i dont like it coz u cant revert the patch and it Permanently applied.

 

I tried it since 3.55.01, never had any crach/BSOD. I hope it will stay that way

 

I thought you could take off experimental protection any time? You just had to restart to do that.

Yup, drop down Configure menu in Sandboxie Control and un-check Experimental Protection (64 bit), restart and its all gone. Had to be like that in case Microsoft patch the 'fix' Tzuk has implemented.

I'd also be aware that the experimental protection is unlikely to cause a problem out of the blue. The BSoD errors that people are fearing will only occur in the wake of a PatchGuard alteration on the part of Microsoft. In other words, we'll not see much of an issue at all until the next patch Tuesday were the kernal gets modified.

So if you start Blue Screening after running Windows update, you'll at least know where to start looking for issues! Fortunately, like everyone above has said, PatchGuard only runs its check every 5-10 minutes. So there's likely enough time to switch off the experimental protection and reboot in that timeframe.
