Seems we have an issue with ESET SS 5 RC stealing focus when IDM (Internet Download Manger) queue starts. I've contacted Tonec yet the issue seems to be ESET after further testing.

That determination was concluded by turning off just the AV, not the firewall and the issue stopped.

Below are links to help identify the issue.
Loss of focus happens in explorer and browser windows when IDM is downloading, again only if av is enabled.
Loss of focus is three times per connection made.

Video of focus being lost when IDM starts. Notice system tray icon (three green triangles is indicator queue or download has started.

I will edit with ESET set-up screenshots if needed.

Note this is happening on two comps, three more comps are running different AV with no issues. (three more we want to add when current subscriptions expire in 42 days.)

IDM queues are a total of 46 files downloading every five minutes between those two comps.

This becomes a serious issue in production.

ESET does not interact with other applications in any way when filtering http communication. If disabling http checking make a difference it must be a problem of IDM with Windows Filtering Platform or WFP itself.

Does not necessarily have to do with the http connection rather, IDM program initialization.

Again issue only happened with ESET 5 enabled. (so your conclusion is not very well thought out with all due respect)

Does not happen with ESET 4 or N360

    Had to check.
No it does not change anything.
and my apology for misunderstanding at first, yet no offense was intended.

One of those three lines going and a loud-mouth behind me. ~smiles~

Look our publication has been down for about a year due to me taking time to ponder life. (terminally ill, no stupid pity party please)

Anyhow have some university students ready to help me, I'm ready to get back in the saddle for as long as I can.

Just frustrated over IDM saying ESET, and ESET thinking IDM.

Anyhow very fine AV/Firewall. . . just need help resolving.
    Sincerely,
    Heidi-Ann Kennedy

After further testing I've decided it's IDM's issue.
Why their latest version interacts with ESET in such a manor is not clear.

I figure neither party will really be interested in researching or solving this conflict.

Which leaves what for a solution. . . drop ESET or IDM.

    So applying Ockham's razor principle.

Any recommendation on a top-notch download mgr.
Not looking for a free program.
Though one that has good support would be a plus.

Because I'm a die hard (that funny if you think about it) fan of ESET and really want to help resolve any issue in this new version. Which by the way has been very smooth running except for this issue.

    Anyhow an update:
IDM found the issue / conflict and resolved.

~Private communications removed per the TOS~

Have to say I was surprised and restored my faith in IDM's support.

    Case Closed
