Anyone can comment how well it works on Windows 7 64 bit platform? Asking due to patchguard, and can it really work that well against keyloggers without access to the kernel?

Hey thanks for the links to the tests whitedragon551 & guest. It seems it does pretty well. I try some of my own tests too, if I decide to purchase. :thumb:

If you have a Facebook account Zemana is giving away free licenses if you want to test the x64 capabilities on your own.

Is there any chance that the folks from Spyshelter and MRG will resolve their differences? I would really like to see this product tested by MRG's latest simulators. :)

Unlikely. If existing performance is the same as its previous performance then, based on MRG's methodology, Spyshelter would get a fail - it would alert but the alert would be indistinguishable from the non-malicious control applications.

I'm not that sure if this is true anymore, SS updated the antinetwork spy module after the tests.
I hardly doubt that the MRG really want to distinguish any popup

I think that is very unlikely. SS are hardly going to update the module and thereby admit that MRG were right all along!!

The MRG interpretation of the popups is so subjective, that I really don't care about the banking test, I know that SS protects with a detailed popup against ZEUS & Co. and that's all I need to know.

Have you read the report and seen the popups? They were useless compared to how well some other apps performed.

Download any banking malware and try yourself.
The second MRG banking test mysteriously is not available on their website/forums
The first MRG baking test is avaliable and SS pass it.

It is available - I downloaded it a couple of weeks ago. The fact is there are very few independent published tests of SS. One test gave it a pass, the next a fail. There were no further tests due to Spyshelter being seriously unhappy about the fail. So who knows how good it is? Especially on 64bit where I don't think it's ever been tested. We've all seen malware bypass OA and CIS over the years so I can't see SS being any different.....and testing downloaded malware in your bedroom doesn't count. Nor does 'testing' it with SS' own test tool or anything else publicly available.

    It doesn't even support 64-bit.

I think the merits of the application speak for itself, for the people that use it, it works, works very well. I myself have had no issues with it on my 64bit systems.

But, that said, I totally agree with MRG in regard to the popup prompts, they are too technical and possibly meaningless for the average computer user to understand whether they should click allow or deny and any unintended consequence of getting it wrong.

They need to implement something, a color band scheme, green/orange/red border or possibly something else based on whatever they decide is possibly ok/bad/nasty, but they need to make it a easier on average users.

This is the main reason I can't and don't recommend the application to anyone that isn't technically minded.

It should also be said that the installer recommends the highest security option but doesn't offer any true justification why a user should choose that over the medium option(apart from less prompts, less security?), so the average user will install it with defaults and then be bombarded with prompts he/she has no idea what to initially allow/deny.

Yeah, but my point is nobody actually knows whether it is really any good because it's never been independently tested. It's the only security application I know of that's never been subjected to thorough testing. It could have vulnerabilities left, right and centre, easily terminated by malware, easily bypassed, easily unhooked etc etc.

Would get a fail in which test? Can you specify and proove it?
Read again very carefully that post especially linked post:

    https://www.wilderssecurity.com/showpost.php?p=1885507&postcount=35

Don't worry about SpyShelter and it's protection abilities including protectiong against Zeus or Torpig it's prepared for such attacks also ...

    For the 64bit version true.

I suppose some of us have a certain somewhat blind faith in the app, the developer and the views of wilders members and other forums and past (32bit) tests which make us believe that the application is working as intended and doesn't have heaps of holes on a 64bit platform, but until some good independent 64bit test are performed, we will never know.
