I had a look, it's quick for kaspersky but I could still notice it and I would never use protection that I can notice, it's possibly better protection, but if you're looking for light there are many better solutions. I have 6 cores @4.1gz and 8 gig and currently 33 processes running.

That is wild as I am surfing the web and posting on Wilders faster than ever before (when compared to KIS 8 & upwards that I have used over the past few years). o_O

I've been using Kaspersky for years... since version 5 if I remember correctly and it's never seemed overly heavy to me especially this version.

I even use high settings for everything, as I'm a little on the paranoid side and I'm still surfing blazing fast.

I've never really had any of the yearly issues others talk about, although I did have the one website eat up my resources when I went there using this year's version.... that german antimalware website that a lot of people talked about. It's not been replicated on my machine on any other websites.

I still notice the Web AV on certain threads.

Opening files seems faster, though, and I haven't found as many problems as before on my machine.

With no reason to lie I want so say that I've tried Kaspersky Internet Security 2012 final and is realy slowing down my laptop. I have a AMD Turion X64 2.2, 4GB DDR2, HDD 500GB 4200RPM. In comparison to Norton wich I always use and it is far more lighter than Kaspersky 2012 IMO. I think is a very good product in general but not for me, I gave them a change but still NO, back to Norton 360 V5. Thanx!

Running KAV 2012 on a 5 year old PC.
3.0 GHz Pentium IV,2GB RAM and it's working like a charm.
    No slowdowns at all.

I am trying it now on a real machine, seems good and quite light :) Because of the increasing malware with digital sig I've unchecked automatically trusting signed files in both Application Control and Proactive Defense, but it hasn't gotten too chatty. When doing a scan the scanned files are no longer shown, also not when clicking on the details, it can only be seen by opening the task manager :(

I was a bit disappointed with that as well. I think they have oversimplified the interface a bit too much for my liking. It does seem stable and is the lightest KIS in years, though there are still lighter suites out there. I feel that KIS is better protection than they are. I guess you have to give to get.

I wanted to see how the GUI has changed but the web site links of the OP still show 2011 and no screenshots.

This may be a silly question, but here goes anyway. I live in the United States, and I notice that even though KIS 2012 is available on Kaspersky's global website, it's not yet available on the US site. Would it still be possible for me to download a fully functional trial from the global site? And, if I like it, would I be able to then purchase it, even if it's still not technically available in the US?

    Thanks!

Is the browser configuration option a new feature or is it present in the 2011 version?

Yes I think it was already present in 2010 and maybe even earlier, but it still only works on IE.
Yes, they alread killed the detailed signature database view in 2011 and now even more simple, but in 2012 it can't be brought back through custom skins.

Kaspersky 2012 products have improved much in terms of protection, performance, compatibility, and stability. I am happy user of KIS 2012. Here are my observations:

    KIS 2011 CF2(b.a.c.d.e)
    KIS 2012(a)

    Boot time:
    40-42 sec
    36-37 sec
    Restart time:
    13-14 sec
    12-13 sec
    C: drive first scan:
    13 min 10 sec
    10 min 3 sec
    C: drive second scan:
    3 min 20-30 sec
    1 min 5-10 sec
Chrome launch time (sandboxie + 10 plugins):
    5-6 sec
    4-5 sec

    Overall Experience (out of 10):
    6 Stars
    9 Stars

I agree KIS 2012 is better then 2011 in speed. :)
I just hope they fixed the Java bug.

I'm not sure is Nekromantik facing same problem as I, but when you visit in site that loads java application: browser freezes for a long time. I had to dump kis 2012 'cos of this. It's annoying. Well, this same problem is with kis/kav 2011, 2010, .. .. .. etc.

Give a link to the website, then others can look if they have the same problem. Don't know if its allowed to give the link, we will see.

Using kav2012 on my laptop and i'm happy with it, not notice any slowdown of any program.

Using kis 2012 on my desktop and also very happy with it.

To people having slowdown problems, try letting it run a couple days to "get to know" your system. I'm on an i7930 with 6GB and after the first couple days notice zero lag whatsoever.

    nah that wasnt my issue.
my issue was when you load a website that uses Java applets, KIS 2011 used to disable itself. This happened on any Java applet website and it never failed to switch itself off.
Im not sure if it was just my issue or its wide spread.

The only two reason I can think of are:
-KIS crashed. If it did, you would see a "Previous application launch failed" message. Did you?
-Was the protection disabled altogether (all modules: Firewall, FileAV, WebAV etc.) or just the real-time FileAV? FileAV has a feature to be disabled when an application starts. Maybe you or someone else set it up to be disabled when java.exe starts by mistake which would produce a "Antivirus disabled" message by windows and warning message from KIS...
You tried 2012, does it have the same problem?
