Anyone think the trial version of "Webroot Internet Security Complete" takes forever to install? I can't seem to cancel the installation either. How disgusting of it :(

I hope the beta lets us completely disable Webroot and just enable the Prevx portion :)

The limited invites will be processed over the next several weeks.

So could be some time, if it happens at all.

I understand that, but why isn't this the we root forum and why do people still relate to Prevx as Prevx.

To me, this is just another step to eradicating Prevx, unless Prevx remains its own product - Prevx is no more.

Your Questions will be answered in time! Only the Webroot/Prevx Team knows for now!

When I went by the Webroot booth at the RSA Security Conference in February it looked like Prevx was pretty well on its way to eradication already. Finally found a brochure that mentioned it in passing, but no "Proud member of the Webroot family" type reception. I went ahead and renewed one of my Prevx licenses for another year (dropped the other ones with this uncertaintly) to see what finally happens. The betas will determine where my systems go from here.

As expected the "Prevx" brand will be discontinued. To be honest, I don't have problems with the product being branded as Webroot. However I have a problem with the worst product name I have encountered: SecureAnywhere.

Good to see CPU/disk usage will be lowered. And I absolutely don't care about download/installer size and 1/10th RAM usage of Prevx 3.

That answer does not make me happy at all, it means there are probably System Tools the Wilders members are not going to like (doesn't say anything about other potential users though).

How could there possibly be tools that Wilders members won't like? We have significant tools planned specifically for the technical users here but we just aren't revealing information before the beta starts as it would over complicate the posting with dozens of screenshots that won't be relevant to every user.

Edit, I'll continue this sub-discussion in the other thread ;)

Just a question: how do users get selected for the closed beta- based on what?
I.e "Everyone who selected "Wilders forum" in the "where did you hear about it" will receive the beta." lol
I never really understood such a signup process. If you're going to have a small number of users testing it (closed beta), why not get some qualified users/testers by including a "competence test" to see whether the user know about betatesting in general, how the program works and its philosophy, etc. If quantity is lessened, increase the quality of user feedback. ;)

The selection will probably be random - I'm not sure of what the cutoffs will be at this point. I'd tend to think we're interested in all level of competency for testing - the average user who doesn't know anything about computer security software can still bring a lot of value in testing :)

I agree on that, but only for the public beta as it would be much more efficient to include users with more expertise on the matter in the private beta to "iron out"/report some of the (primary) bugs (including the more prominent ones, like BSoDs etc.) and thus provide a bit more quality feedback (by "quality" I mean "knowing what they're talking about") which would in return make it easier for the average user in terms of "OMG it constantly crashes" reports.
But anyway, just my 2c :)

Are current Prevx 3 users entitled to a free upgrade or will there be a discount? Thanks.

    Hello all,
As this is a closed beta, we're looking to manage it only through our support forum. I'm going to close this thread for now - please report all issues/comments through the support inbox. http://info.webrootcloudav.com/service.asp?Source=WEBROOTPBETA

We will be opening it up for an open beta in the near future where you'll be able to post anything :)

    Thank you for the testing!
