I keep getting a red message box popping up telling me that a remote computer with the IP number 192.88.99.1 is trying to connect to the system application.

I tried searching google, but the results that came up didn't leave me any wiser as to what is trying to connect.

is it safe to allow this connection?

Open a command prompt window, (Right click and Run as administrator, if you have UAC), then type ipconfig /all - hit enter.
Is the address 192.88.99.1 listed as the default gateway?
