    What is the issue?
You mention PD12 slow for you, but no mention how/why Eset is the possible cause?

I have used PD12 and Eset Smart Security - 5 RC and both work fine for me.
PD12 works well on it's own, does not use many resources.
Eset works ok on it's own, uses a few resources.

I did un-install Eset earlier today, but that was down to a separate issue with web pages taking a long time to load on some sites, and that was down to Eset. Diags of disable tests etc and un-installation proved that one :)

Summery, Perfect Disk 12 and ESS 5 do not appear to have any compatibility issues with each other.

Does disabling real-time protection make a difference?

I ran PD12 FTW + ESS 5 with no problems. Why would a Disk Defragmenter have anything to do with a security suite compatibility

I'm running PerfectDisk 12.00 Server (Build 267) alongside NOD32 Antivirus 5.0.84.0 (x32) without any lag.

Due to the nature of real-time scanning of ESET and the latest defragmenters like PerfectDisk, potential conflict cannot be totally ruled out. :)

I understand, although I have never run into any compatibility issues for the past 5 years that I've been using them both :)

Perfect Disk 12 + ESS FTW :D Max performance!

Yeah, V5 + PerfectDisk 12 = max performance. BTW, have V5 running on another system with Diskeeper 2011 without any issues whatsoever.

    Hello,

Were you running ESET Smart Security v5 with the default settings, or had you changed any of them?

Have you tried disabling the modules in ESET Smart Security, one-by-one to see if you can identify which one seems to be slowing the system down?

Is there any setting in Raxco PerfectDisk 12 that you have to configure or run in order for the problem to occur? Or does it just happen when both programs are installed with their default settings?

    Regards,

    Aryeh Goretsky

It happened to me with default settings . I don' t blame ESS b for this but as a matter of fact I had an issue with PD12 on my desktop test pc where ESS 5 was installed. When I uninstalled PD the machine was usable again. Also, just to test I returned to AIS for a control and there I installed PD12 which is running now together very well. This could be an isolated issue of my specific system, otherwise more complaints had been seen.

Ok, after struggling with ESS 5 issues with high CPU and problems with PD 12 I finally found what was the problem. The question still is why ? I have an issue ticket at support to which I sent logs. Here is what I found on my system, win7 sp1x32, 2GB ram, Intel Celeron CPU 2.8 ghz.

I have come to the conclusion that on my system ESS 5 together with PD12 and automatic start of .net frame ngen in sevices, i.e mscorsvw.exe gives hyper CPU usage. The reasons why I came to this is as follows:

    - I reverted to an image from the beginning of may, with fewer apps installed and AIS 6 as main security. Installed PD12 over PD11 and updated win included. No issues, no hyper CPU.

    - Uninstalled AIS with AIS remover in safe mode and after that cleaned every trace of avast and alwil in reg.

    - Installed ESS 5RC with PD12 already installed. Excluded folder "C:\Program Files\Telia mobile broadband\Log" from scanning as support adviced. Also added PDengine.exe, PDagents. Hyper usage of CPU 100%. Uninstalled PD12 and noticed considerable improvement in CPU usage.

-Then an winupdate followed with two .net frame KB:s. And again I got an immediate hyper CPU. This time with PD not installed. Had to search for something else. Looked in task manager and saw a very high CPU from the process mscorsvw.exe. belonging to .net frame service NGEN.

    - Opened up services in adm.tools and changed ngen from auto start to manual, and, voila´, CPU decreased in a sudden !

    - Ok, then to check if this was the only reason I installed PD12 again. Again 100% CPU usage and problems to open up PD:s GUI. Rebooted and the same, hyper CPU.

Uninstalled PD12 and at last I have ESS 5 running as it should. Without PD and Net:s Ngen changed to manual start.Telia mobile broadband\Log still in exclusion.

ESS seems to be running fine now but still the question remains why I had these problems with ESS and not with AIS .

My PC has been slow to boot lately and I noticed it after I updated 1st to ESS V5 then PD12!

Today is 1st major update to PD12 with SP1 Build 275, their e-mail claims its a major bug fixer!

    What's new in PerfectDisk 12 (Build 275)
There were several issues where the S.M.A.R.T. tab indicated outrageously high temperatures. This was due to PerfectDisk not recognizing the drive model and trying to apply an incorrect set of rules to interpret the S.M.A.R.T. data. In this build PerfectDisk will only provide S.M.A.R.T. data for drives in recognizes. More drives will be added in later service packs.
Real time defragmentation aggressively allocated space to prevent additional fragmentation. This resulted in consuming large amounts of space unnecessarily. The main symptom was rapidly growing log files. This has been corrected.
On some Windows XP systems the drives were grayed out annd PerfectDisk could not be used. This was due an issue with WMI which has been corrected.
On Windows 7, the hidden 100mb partition created to support bitlocker has been added to the excluded drives list automatically. There is no benefit in defragmenting this partition.
Multiple text changes were made to maintain the PerfectDisk consistent with the PerfectDisk Console.
When enabling or disabling the SMART feature, the PerfectDisk GUI did not reflect the changes until you closed and reopened the GUI. This has been fixed.
There was a bug in displaying the MFT statistics. Text was inserted where numerical values should have been. This has been corrected.
When SMART polling occurred, the SMART Tab refocused to the first disk in the list. This has been fixed to leave focus on whatever disk was selected.
When entering a license key the Help menu still allowed you to reenter it. This has been fixed.
When right clicking on a file in the Most Fragmented Files list, and choosing to open the folder you would get an error if the file path contained a space. This has been fixed.
Ability to set partitions as Thin Provisioned has been removed from the PerfectDisk consumer product line. This feature is for corporate thin provisioned SAN environments.
There was a bug in the VMware Host product which caused the GUI to crash when performing an offline defrag on a virtual volume. The crash was in the PerfectDisk GUI and did not affect the virtual volume. This has been fixed.
data retention rules were added to prevent the log file growing too large. Before Service Pack 1, all alerts were saved. Now Alerts are saved for two weeks and then purged.
During a defrag pass, the hibernate file is temporarily removed to free up space to improve defrag performance. If the computer was shutdown during a defrag pass or when a defrag pass was PAUSED, the hibernate file was not restored. This has been fixed.
Additional information was added to the log when performing a Zero Fill pass (Server product only).
Some of the Alerts had the incorrect text. The Alert indicated you had exceeded a threshold when it should have indicated you dropped below the threshold value. values were also being incorrectly flagged as alerts when they were not. These have been fixed.
S.M.A.R.T. temperature graph appeared to be out of date. This was due to only graphing 1000 data points, where there could have been up to 44,600. This has been fixed.
After an Analyze pass, PerfectDisk made a recommendation on what type of defragmentation pass was needed and allowed you to start that pass right away. There was a bug which caused PerfectDisk to start the default defrag pass not the currently recommended. This has been fixed
