I'm currently using a 30 day trail of Emsisoft Anti-Malware and was wondering if anyone has had any experience with this product.

So far, I think it's pretty cool and I like the way that it detects just about any and everything that's malware and stops it. However, I am also using Sandboxie....and even though the malware gets stopped in the sandbox, once the sandbox is deleted, all of the problems go away anyway.

Any feedback on this product would be appreciated.

it's a great product. the only issue i ever ran into was with lower-end machines, where scanning on-access scanning caused performance issues. reconfiguring the product to scan on execution rather than on access fixes it. (figured i'd mention that just in case you notice it yourself)

One of my favorite security products. I agree with m0unds on that it is a great product. A combination of Sandboxie and Emsisoft Anti-Malware is a good setup.

I have been using EAM for over a year and like it very much. I have had very few false positives. It works well with my other security software. If you buy it through SurfRight (Hitman Pro) you also get a free license for Hitman Pro for one year: http://www.surfright.nl/en/shop/

I used A-Squared since about 2005, and changed to emsisoft emergency kit when it came out. I haven't found a better scanner detection wise and I haven't had too many problems with FPs, regardless whatever emsisoft finds I double check on virustotal if emsisoft flags a file. Great scanner, also they purchased online armor which I think is the best HIPS/3rd party firewall

I would believe that the point of having both EAM and Sandboxie
so you can detect malware inside the sandbox and didn't accidentally recover a bad file to the real drive.
since my habit makes me download a lot of stuff for office purposes

Is a EAM 6 expected to be lighter with regards to system impacts?

I don't have a lot of experience with this software other than the emergency scanner which is top notch. :thumb:

    You're welcome :D

I like emsisoft, maybe because it is simple and work as I want it to be

About the false positive, they are trying to reduce it on v6.
Right now I haven't yet encounter false positive, maybe I'm just lucky ;)

In all these years using EAM (Probably 2) i have only seen 2 FP's cases and both were removed within 24 hours after submitting :D

I like EAM very much , but it's very heavy.
    Hope v6 will be lighter.

Version 6 of EAM will be _a lot_ faster than version 5. They redesigned the way the engines work together completely.

I like the fact that I can put the emergency kit on a flash drive and use it to scan customers' systems.

Very true. Especially when you're having memory problems like I'm having with my computer. Although, hopefully, I should be correcting that soon.

Also, thank you everyone so far for your informative answers.

That's for that tip. Also, is EAM's license a lifetime license, or do you have to renew it every year?

If you don't mind me asking, what is a BB?

EAM didn't have lifetime license, I hope they will :D
    BB is behaviour blocker.

Hope that the new version will detect keylogging methods. Currently the program will alert the user if a keylogger that happens to be in the database is attempting to run, but if "Allow to Run, but Check Behavior" option is selected the keylogger will steal keystrokes effortlessly.

One other point- as I was just testing EAS against my keylogger zoo, I left EAS on and was browsing the web. Apparently they tweaked the malicious website filter in the build that was just released a few days ago. It will now block that notorious malware infected site Bloomberg.com!
