Check out their forums at http://www.ocztechnologyforum.com/forum/forumdisplay.php?248-Sandforce-Vertex2-LE-Pro-Agility2-Vertex2-Agility2-EX-Drives-REVO-and-HSDL-drives

The moderators are arrogant and will not admit that they are having nothing but problems with their new drives. They say less than 1% are having problems which is a bunch of bull. Just look at the stickies and see how they are getting their customers to do their beta testing. This has been going on for several weeks as they blame Intel, Sandforce and their customers. They have a 16 step method to install the junky drive, and then still most users are getting BSOD's every few hours.

This company and it's employees are totally incompetent. STAY AWAY from their products and save yourself hours of headaches.

If the drive BSOD then it must mean there's a bug check code. Why not analyze the bugcheck and it will point out the cause of it.

Other option is to enable debugging mode and hook the pc up to another pc running a debugger.

Then take the proof and hand it in at their support section. Not a forum their Customer Support section.

Read the forum as suggested. Why should you have to go through 16 steps, some of which require Linux distro, just to install a hard drive? I have 4 other SSD's, 2 Intel X25e's in RAID 0, 1 Crucial c300 256 gb, and 1 Intel X25M, Gen 1. No problems at all for almost a year after putting them in different computers with different configurations. Both clean installs and imaging to different computers with ShadowProtect.

I say again, OCZ Vertex drives are junk and the company is blaming everyone but themselves for their problems, rather than recalling them like Corsair just did with their 6 Gb/s SATA III drives which had similar problems. Their customer support forum sucks.

    BE AWARE!

I had some really good RAM I bought from them probably a decade ago. Back when the heat spreaders were solid copper. Any Ram I bought from them after that was junk and the power supply I bought died. I now stick with Mushkin for my RAM and flash drives.

I'm also using 2 Mushkin SSD's for 2 months without any issues and it was because of the reviews from Newegg to stay away from OCZ!

posting in a forum is not customer support. Email them about the problem that is customer support. That last line wasn't for you that was something you couldve told them in thee forums. No one gets discount for being a dedicated fan we all pay the same price

If you would read through the forums, you would see clearly that the customer support is terrible and unsuccessful in fixing the problem.

Wow I just read through the Amazon reviews. If I was looking to buy a SSD it would not be from OCZ.

Running my pair of Mushkin 120's in RAID 0 6 months now. No complaints.

OCZ used to be one of my preferred brands. It has been sad to watch them go down the tubes. :(

Not going to touch OCZ SSD for my next build.

I have Intel SSD at the moment and work flawlessly. I might try Samsung SSD to see if that is okay.

I too chose Intel, 510 series to be exact. I was going to buy a Verter 3, but after reading about it, I switched to the slower but more reliable Intel drive. It's a shame that almost all reviews of Vertex 3 only take account in the speed of the drive, nobody ever talks about the reliability.

It seems that SandForce is a flawed design. So if you want a reliable drive instead of the fastest one, get a SSD powered by either Marvell or Intel chip (the latest Intel 510 actually has Marvell one).

This problem could be related to their SSD's only.
I'm by no means an experienced OCZ user, but up to now 4 components in my PC are from OCZ.
Power supply, and 3 ram sticks, they all have been running since mid 2008 and i have never experienced a single issue :D

I've also used them to do a few builds and none of them have experienced issues.

I'm kind of curious, it might sound like a ridiculous question, but......are you sure you have a SATA III compatible Motherboard on your PC/ Notebook? If you havent, or your not sure, then theres the Major malfunction right there, and it wont have anything to do with as you say... being JUNK!

It is Junk. I am on Sandy Bridge M67 chipset with Sata III ports.

Take a look at all of the problems on their website if you don't believe me. Also look at the arrogance of the moderators, the way they delete posts that aren't supportive and are generally unhelpful to their customers.

It is disgusting and I am about to return these drives back to the seller for Intel's SSD's.

I laughed when i read the title, nothing new here, i bought a 256GB OCZ vertex a year ago and barely used it and the thing died. It was still under warranty, but i had some important files on it so i asked them to retrieve the data, they said they couldnt do that and referenced me to a repair specialists whom i asked what was involved, he said all his company does is repair the drive and then copy the data off. I confronted OCZ about this and they said that the warranty says that they will repair or replace the drive at their discretion .

The repair would have cost as much as a new drive, about $750.

If the fact that you have to scour their forums for a few weeks just to figure out how to update the firmware on the drive so it will actually perform as advertised isnt enough to turn someone away, i dont know what will.

It's Ok I believe you, I actually bought a vertex 2 120G yesterday, and took it back today, it ran ok for a short while, then froze the bloody system dead this morning. As luck would have it I do a lot of business with my local computer store, and they replaced it with a Corsair 128GB Performance 3 Series.

  24. I have an OZC VERTEX SATA III in my Laptop for quite awhile and have not experienced one issue with it .Those fellows at that support forum must have gotten an SSD out of the box that fell off the conveyor belt at the Distribution plant. Lol!!!!

interesting thread. I just read a review about the topical Vertex 3 SSD (240 GB version) from PC Format (july-2011 issue) and they gave it high marks (see attached pic of their verdict). although they do warn that "to get the stunning speeds the Vertex 3 has to offer you really need a Sandy Bridge platform with its native 6Gbps support."

personal OCZ experience: I bought 4 GB of ram from them for my laptop which started causing errors after about 3-6 months of use (BSOD issues which I tracked down to both of the 2 GB OCZ ram sticks failing memtests). I contacted them about the problem and they told me to send the sticks in for replacement (different model). the replacements have worked great to this day (about 3 years now).
