Just install and found that no custom install available. Damn them. What is wrong with having a custom install. I can't understand Kaspersky. o_O

KIS has Application Control (main HIPS component), a manual sandbox ("Safe Run"), Proactive Defense (PDM, another HIPS component detecting additional actions, and also works as a behaviour blocker), aswell as System Watcher rolling back malicious actions if malware is detected after executing.

KAV has only a stronger version of Proactive Defense, which, in addition to what it does in KIS, covers some of the actions watched by KIS' Application Control, but still isn't as strong as Application Control + PDM in KIS. KAV also has System Watcher which works exactly like in KIS.

Overally, the HIPS + Sandbox part of KAV is significantly weaker than in KIS, although still effective against a lot of malware.

its working to upgrade from 2011 to 2012 without problems just fallow this guide

If you're upgrading to version 2012 from version 7.0, 2009, 2010 & 2011 then i would strongly recommend that you uninstall any previous version (this includes AV's from other vendors!)....... completely, keeping only the activation data option ticked in the uninstall wizard if you wish and reboot before installing the new version. This is very important even between say version 2011 & 2012. If you previously have had other anti-viruses installed then I would recommend you have a look at this sticky.

    worked for me,

I've run several scans on my computer prior to installing KIS 2012.

    Computer Specs:

Windows 7 Professional 64 bit OS
    4GB RAM
    Intel Core 2 Quad CPU @ 2.66GHz
4 Hitachi 1TB internal hard disks

    Scan Durations:

Full scan duration: 01:04:06 (no threats found)
Vulnerability scan duration: 00:10:16 (10 vulnerabilities found)
Quick scan duration: 00:08:07 (no threats found)

In summary the scan durations have decreased significantly compared to KIS 2011. The CPU usage doesn't seem to be high either, however I am running a quad core processor which might have helped there.

In terms of browsing speed it seems to be on par with Avira Premium so far which is impressive. Really glad they have improved the product this much.

I had six new version release notification emails. So I unsubscribed and have had four more! Lol great marketing, what next random pop ups from pr0n sites? just checked, they are all identical address looks correct and the link takes me to kaspersky which webrep tells me is genuine and my passport manager automatically logs me in? very strange. If I try to unsubsribe it tells me I already am..

Really.. You can do 10000 installs, it won't turn your cloud on. Well, cloud works but the cloud window...

It's up to your internet connection. Kaspersky lab know about this problem but they have done nothing. During beta test.. Nothing.

Trying KIS 2012 now. :) I used 2010 extensively, but had to leave Kaspersky completely with 2011. It ran terrible on several systems, and was buggy as hell (I never tried any of the patches/hotfixes, though, I must admit).

2012 is another story completely, so far. Very lean and fast. Low number of i/o writes (It still racks up a huge number of i/o reads, but I don't care about that. That is not noticable on my SSD, and writes are what is important for the life span of the device). Almost unnoticable addition to the boot time. I think Windows boots 2 seconds slower with KIS than without any security application at all installed. Thumbs up for that. Webpages loads instantly, and I haven't seen any irritating bugs, and certainly no showstoppers. Feels like a keeper. Cloud works just fine here.

Yet no mention of OS, machine specs, etc. I am running it on 3 machines to test, all Windows 7 x64, 1 dual core, 2 quad core, 1 4GB RAM, 2 8GB RAM, no issues at all, no slowdown.

I assume that means installing parental controls when I don't need them?

Yes. Thankfully the Parental Control in 2012 doesn't fill a whole tab of the GUI but instead is one smaller icon in the middle of 12 icons (11 on x64 systems) on the main window, so it doesn't annoy me as much as it used to.

Is safe run for websites to be used only for online banking and payments? Can it be used for browsing all websites like sandboxie? Will it protect the system web threats in the same way like sandboxie?

Applies to Kaspersky Internet Security 2012
The Safe Run for Websites is mainly designed for accessing online banking systems and other websites processing confidential data.

You can enable controlled access to online banking services to automatically detect banking websites as well as create your own list of websites; attempting to access them, you will be suggested to switch to Safe Run for Websites. You can find detailed instruction on how to configure automatic Safe Run for Browsers launch in KB6317.

When you use Safe Run for Websites, all changes (saved cookies, log of visited websites, etc.) remain in the safe environment and do not affect the operating system, which means that they cannot be exploited by intruders. If necessary, you can clear all changes made to the safe browser and restore the default settings.

Only for Microsoft Internet Explorer, Mozilla Firefox, Google Chrome; in other cases, Microsoft Internet Explorer opens in Safe Run for Websites mode.

The browser which runs in Safe Run for Websites mode is highlighted with a green frame around the application window.

I can second that! I tried the 2012 version for two days. I also think it was heavy. The interface and the menues was quick, but surfing the web was really slow. Something made my computer feel couple of kiloes heavier..
