    Folks:
Can those who have just purchased [unfortunately I missed the 50% special] the latest MBAM-pro [ 1.51.0.1200] advise on the file size, name and MD5 checksum?

The reason is , today , when I hit the buy now button on the [Malwarebytes] website I'm lead to 'cleverbridge' and after purchasing the pro version [mbam-setup.exe] I get an email link to a 7.4 MB file with MD5 checksum of.....df7507aaf7991ce25565cb9175b166e2.

However when I hit the download button on the [Malwarebytes] web site I'm lead to the Major Geeks mirror where the file [mbam-setup-1.51.0.1200] has a size of 9 MB and has a MD5 checksum of 91c53b258bed55e250433fcf2a39fc29 .

I'm confused here, and assistance please?

    Feandur.

hmmm..I wonder if it's to do with the definitions?

When I download from malwarebytes.com I get redirected to softonic.com and they have the same file as Major Geeks, is the CleverBridge version also 1.51.0.1200?

    Hi BoerenkoolMetWorst:

Unknown as I have not installed yet..

....however the email from MBAM online store 'cleverbridge' only came today and I would presume it had an up-to-date link...though it was disconcerting when it said "Your download is valid until 20/6/2011" [that is 2 weeks] when I believed this is a lifetime licence. Perhaps they mean the email download link is only open for 2 weeks.

If you are using the 9 MB file of MBAM-pro and find that satisfactory then perhaps that's what I should do also?

    cheers,
    feandur.

I have MBAM already longer on my PC so I haven't tried the new installers, but if you download it you can do right-click -> properties -> details and it will tell you the version number. If it's an older one that will explain the difference and then it will also have older signatures which explain the smaller size. If you want some peace of mind you could scan the installer first on virustotal.com before installing it.

Yes, I noticed that too (bought two copies recently) so I decided to download from the email link provided with 7.4MB because of smaller file size and I did compare it to the mirror download which is larger in size.

    Any idea?

Yes, I think that's for the email link only according to the instruction. Previously I had some problems with my version 1.50 which I bought a while back so I reinstall by downloading from mirror side then just typed in the licence code and it worked fine.

Sorry BoerenkoolMetWorst I'm on Linux Mint v9 at the moment [do a lot of my surfing in linux], and just using GtkHash to get the MD5 checksums...but could try that later on my M$ box.

Thanks chew...I really, really appreciate that someone else had the same / similar experience of the different file sizes...

Seems that comfort is best to be had in just downloading direct from Malwarebytes web site mirror, then using the ID and Key provided in the email receipt.

    Very appreciated chew.

    cheers all,

No, it isn't. I've also bought a license with the discount, as I had MBAM on demand already installed, I only had to activate the program. The version of MBAM I had is 1.51.0.1200 the installer's version from Cleverbridge is 1.50.1.1100 - 7.37 MB. It is odd they are different.

    Edit:
1.51.0.1200 is simply the new version which is not supplied yet by Cleverbridge.

    Hello Feandur:

The first hash is a perfect match to v1.50.1.1100 and the second hash perfectly matches v1.51.0.1200

You could have downloaded either version. Version 1.50.1.1100 would have updated (without intervention)(on-line) immediately to v1.51.0.1200, perfectly.

Even though your cutoff date may come and go for a cleverbridge AG download, you may always download the freeware version from any authorized mirror (cnet, Major Geeks, etc.) and with the application of your product ID & Key, it will immediately become the PRO version. No worry!

Please remember to carefully retain your cleverbridge AG order number, the product ID and the product Key. As you now have a Lifetime product transferable to the Windows system of your choice.

Now that you're an MBAM owner, sign up on the Malwarebytes forum and see the latest.

Osaban, 1PW, thank you for your time and effort to clarify...very appreciated :)

J_L just downloading to use on the other boxes later...maybe on the weekend as they are in use by other family members :(
....also I feel happier transferring money and doing webmail on my little linux box. Definitely no confusion intended.

so, overall then ...no big deal.
