That's of course, in your very exclusive opinion.

DNS services are real-time, multi-platform, network-wide filters that works on malicious websites. They have varying degrees of effectiveness, from ISP zero, to Norton and ClearCloud very high.

If you've ever tested them, you'll know what I'm talking about.

Anyways, ClearCloud hasn't responded to my recent FP report. That most likely means they're serious about discontinuing it.
Therefore, I've switched to Norton as primary and Comodo as alternate.

    Edit:
Nevermind, they were late. Still, it's not worth switching back at this rate.

ClearCloud is/was good but it always slows my internet in every try and overall bad browsing experience (long PING time, unresponsive most of time). OpenDNS and NortonDNS are my favorite services especially OpenDNS has never caused any problem for last two years. It is amazing fast and scales well. I also use BitDefender TrafficLight (chrome extension) to supplement my protection. RIP ClearCloud :)

Now I'll have to reconfigure all my friends/family PCs to Norton DNS :(.

I've never used ClearCloud so I dont know what I'm missing. The only 2 I've ever used are Norton (currently) and OpenDNS which I'm thinking about using again.

Thanks for the information. This is bad:( I have been using it for months. Now I am switching over to dyndns. I won't be installing the client software since by default dyndns blocks phishing and malicious websites which is enough for my purposes. I like norton dns but it categorizes some malware websites as hacking and to block this category I have to install the norton dns client which I don't want to do.

Wouldn't Norton's new "Continue to Site" option provide a "work around" for this issue?

No actually some malware sites are not blocked since they are categorized under hacking which can be blocked only if we install the noron dns client.

Damn, I just tried to set up DynDNS Internet Guide to no avail.

I created the account. I changed the DNS IPs to DynDNS. I subscribed to the Internet Guide service. That is, I followed the provided steps. But, as it happened in the past, whenevever I try to modify Internet Guide, I get the message I still haven't subscribed to it. I do it again, and the same happens.

What am I doing wrong? I tried with Internet Explorer as well, but the same crap happens.

When I switched to DynDNS server IPs, I started to see quite a few blocked incoming comms, such as from here -https://secure.dshield.org/ipinfo.html?ip=84.99.3.129

As soon as I switched back to ClearCloud, such comms stopped.

I must say I disliked it.

I can't use Norton DNS it keeps bugging my HULU Premium websites at random times, sometime it will work and sometimes the website will just display red X's on all of my systems and the only way to fix it is to change the DNS on my router.

Does anyone know if blocking Ask.com (and related web sites) would cripple Norton DNS?

On a side note, it would be interesting if Webroot would join this DNS services via BrightCloud -http://www.brightcloud.com

BrightCloud seems to be pretty decent alerting for malicious and suspicious web sites.

Well maybe they will make it configurable very soon as he said, anyway 2 hours for an update is hardly going to make any difference.

You are also enjoying them... provided by your ISP. Or, if you run your own DNS servers. ;)

    Hi
Here is a short list of alternative(s) you can use, instead of ClearCloud. :'(
    NORTON DNS
    Pri 198.153.192.1
    Sec 198.153.194.1
    GOOGLE DNS
    Pri 8.8.8.8
    Sec 8.8.4.4
    OPEN DNS
    Pri 208.67.222.222
    Sec 208.67.220.220
LEVEL 3 (not sure how long these will be available)
    Pri/Sec 4.2.2.1/4.2.2.2/4.2.2.3/4.2.2.4/4.2.2.5/4.2.2.6

    Hope that helps :)
    Cheers :D

I'm pretty sure most people coming off of CC will be looking for DNS services that offer strong malware protection, not just any old DNS service, considering they could just use their ISP's.
