    Agree, another off topic but..
First time I use panda, is around 2004. It was new and still much to improve. But that panda icon on my traybar is priceless :D

was the task manager process termination issue addressed on x64 platforms?

reported it on the beta forum, but never received a response from the beta moderator other than "it's not easy to fix". same problem exists on the 2011 product line (taskmgr > elevate to administrator and you can kill every single panda process, including the "process protection service" or whatever it's called) without any kind of intervention from the product.

This is not really an issue. There are various protection layers against this being done by a malware:
1- The self-shield process (Panda Process Protection Service) cannot be stopped.
2- A process trying to terminate the Panda processes will be blocked by the shield (as opposed to manually being stopped or killed by an admin user).

But of course if you are admin manually stopping services you can stop any service. That's the whole point of being an admin of the machine.

There might not be a lot more than that to love. I'll wait for more reviews to make up my mind but here's one to get things started. http://www.pcmag.com/article2/0,2817,2385874,00.asp

I would love to see it too rather than the spinning horse that makes you dizzy while scanning.

Panda rendered IE unusable on both of my machines that I tried it on (XP 32 & Win7 64). Out of the box settings. I installed it and rebooted, and on both machines, I launched IE but couldn't connect, and explorer hanged. I killed IE with process explorer and then explorer was fine, as long as I didn't launch IE. If I did, it would freeze explorer (start menu and taskbar).

I didn't even try to change any of the settings or try and find the cause. If it's going to do that out of the box on 2 clean machines, then I don't want to have anything to do with it.

Hello Kirk, can we contact you to try to troubleshoot it directly via email or through a remote session? Let me know and I'll send you a Private Message with the details.

I appreciate the offer, pbust. :) I suppose if I'm going to post here about my negative experience with a fresh install of your product, then it would be fair to give you a chance to try and rectify it.

I would have to re-install it, which isn't a big deal, especially on the XP machine. The symptoms were the same with both machines, so maybe the cause is the same as well.

Are there any circumstances under which the panda process protection service would be able to be stopped by a user, admin or otherwise, or is it only protected from termination by another process?

    Thanks for the clarification :thumb:

:thumb: Iam using thrial version of the AV at the moment and I must say I like it, the only thing is it runs 7 processes, but it doesnt appear to have any real effect on my system and my memory usage has not risen much if at all, if it continues this would be worth buying. Well Done Panda.
