    Hi,

Can someone clarify exactly what is meant by:

Media to scan - Network Drives

I ask this because I assume (perhaps incorrectly) that if this option is UNchecked then the workstation NOD32 will NOT scan any file that is on a network mapped drive, UNC path, anything that is not on a local drive.

I spoke to tech support today and the guy told me that NOD32 will scan a file that is being opened from a network drive EVEN IF THE OPTION IS NOT SELECTED.

    So I am confused.

The reason all this is coming up is because the workstations are experiencing a Windows Delayed Write Failure on a network file. If we disable NOD32 then the program works fine.

    So can anyone clarify.

    Thanks
    Goran

From my understanding, it makes no difference whether it's a mapped drive or UNC path the files are on. Either way, if 'network drives' is unticked then the file shouldn't be scanned when accessed or executed.

As a test I placed an eicar file on a network share, and got the following results:

    With network scanning disabled:-

Accessing via UNC path or mapped drive - I was able to execute the file without NOD32 blocking it

    With network scanning enabled:-

Accessing via UNC path or mapped drive - NOD32 blocked and quarantined the file when executed
