Im also confused about this, automatic has no rules? and interactive has no white list including critical microsoft processes? surely this is not correct?

    Yes a little confusing :)

However I know that Marcos said that the Automatic mode has rules set up by the developers.

    1. Black font must be changed to white.
    product_activation_type.png
    submission_of_files_to_ESET.png
    2. Failed to launch help from the “Product activation” window.
    3. I would like to see the “Apply” button.
    4. I don't understand what's the “Re-scan quarantined files after every update” option for? I have added to quarantine the Eicar test file, then updated and nothing changed in the “Reason” field. In the “Quarantine” windows i'd like to see the “Rescan file(s)” option.

Exactly. Plus the rules will evolve over time and will be updated automatically to minimize the interactions with the user in interactive mode.

:thumb: Cutting_Edgetech ... Good Questions there on page 7.
Looks like ESET had a plan for that. The initial onslaught of HIPS Permissions pop-ups was only for the first couple of sessions after I installed. The one program I notice slipping through last week the HIPS caught it a couple days ago.:thumb: :thumb:
We'll see the difference in beta2 I'm sure.

I really like the new Beta. Looks and all. The HIPS need rules though. I mean simple things that belong in windows need to be in the rules.
Plus the pop-ups explain too little what it's all about.
But great great thing . HIPS is uncluded now. ESET is becoming better and better. But we NEED rules :) Hope that it will come for the final version. If not it seems just a little " lazy" not to do so and scare people off.

OK, just installed the Beta on Win 7 Pro x64, all functioning (following a clean install though). I've used NOD32 since the world began. :)

I've never used Threatsense, and I'd appreciate an up to date view on this. Sure I'm keen to know what's in the 'cloud' with regards processes running on my machine, but I do not want to send any sort of stats / data from my machines to anyone on an automatic / regular basis. Guess I'm just a stickler for absolute privacy.

So, based on the above, do I enable it with ticks in the other two boxes or disable it. Be interested in your views.

    Thanks

Even if you don't enable "cloud", it seems you can still look at it.

Hi. I've installed ESS 5 Beta. It works fine and smooth, generally.
But ... one problem appears with Outlook 2010.
First I found that in some of my previously sent messages, the cyrillic part (which previously was well readable) is corrupted, i.e. with cyrillic letters but in different layout and reversed uppercase/lowercase. In case of forwarding some received message with cyrillic text in its body, sometimes there are different symbols in the sent items (probably it depends on encoding). It is only in the message body.
When I sent a message in cyrillic to myself both sent and received message appeared same way - corrupted.
When I tried to find some settings that might be changed, I've checked "Disable checking upon inbox content change".
After that only the body of the sent message was corrupted but the received same message was ok. Quite annoying...

    Windows 7 Ultimate
    MS Outlook 2010
ESS 5 Beta (Installed over ESS 4.2)

Thanks in advance for your advices. :)

Am I missing something here? Or did they remove the Remote Administration part from the Beta?

This is a home version of ESET NOD32 Antivirus / Smart Security. Home users do not connect to ERAS, hence the option is missing.

is it truly a behaviour analyzer?, because the only one im seeing are static rules for application-level control, no dynamic analysis on the the fly for determination of suspicious behaviour in the instruction sequence running

2.5 years of work on version 5. :)
ThreatSense® good, but not effective enough protection.
Effectiveness not. for new threats(zero-day), enough protect file.

    1. Speed - improved
    2. Proactive Protection - not improved
    HIPS/Proactive Protection - not improved.
*-Advanced heuristics on file execution. in version 4. nothing not caught.
now and in the 5 version nothing not caught.
    3. ** -Anti-Stealth. must see rootkit and quickly updated.(Win32/Olmarik.ADA TDL4 for Windows x64 other anti-virus software already as 1 year see and remove)
SysInspector(slowly develops) Service Script can not clean system or remove any driver.
SysInspector can not use dangerous methods? Process SysInspector easily terminate.
Сloud - probably not increase protecting users, not improve Virus Lab ESET.
    Minimum needed:
    1.PDM or Cloud PDM.
    2.better Anti-Stealth.
    :)

EAV 5 Beta is off my machine and staying off. It prevented 3 Win 7 x64 MS Updates from installing tonight. The update process produced errors with no joy from searching the web for them. Tried disabling HIPS (rebooted) - no joy. Tried disabling 'standard' protection (rebooted) - no joy. Removed NOD32 - all updates installed in seconds.

Same problem here. Needs to be checked out.

Two computers, one using beta ESS 5, one using beta NOD32 AV.

Having the same problem here (ESS beta, 64-bit). It prevents three Windows Updates from being installed, the only one being allowed to be installed is the Microsoft malicious software removal tool.
