Nice combination, it's the direction I have been aiming for the last year. I will have to look into a couple of those programs you are using.

@SafetyFirst: OA version 5 is lighter.

@Spysnake: Windows Firewall rules are definitely harder to config.
No Autorun has a 64-bit version.

I have a question. I know that Malware Defender wasn't made for 64bit systems but does that mean that it will absolutely not work on them and provide no protection whatsoever? Or is it just that Malware Defender wouldn't be running at its full potential on a 64 bit system as it would in a 32 bit one?

i think that MD will not even run at all as its driver has to be compatible with system 64 firs in order to run and then get it to be or work on it(it)to fully protect the system

If i'm not mistaken MD wouldn't even work on x64 (Correct me if i'm wrong)
Programs had better protection on x84 because they could "hook" the kernel or something like that (Again, correct me if i'm wrong)
But on x64 Microsoft released something called PatchGuard or something like that, that prevents programs from "hooking" critical system components.
With this in mind, this might have dumbed down certain programs but in general i guess people consider this better because this way, nothing (Of course nothing is perfect but basically) can touch your system critical components

Okay, i actually think i got 80% of that wrong LOL
    Correct me :thumb: :D

Oh wow.. 4 real-time scanning programs. I would disable SAS and Returnil Virus Guard.

Do you have Spybot Immunize on? That's the only reason I keep it. Also, you should add something like SUMo or Secunia.

Yep :D Havent had eny other problems except firefox dosent like the combination :p Sometimes dosent respond for second or 2 and lags.

Returnil is compatible with most antiviruses etc. so ive been told. (Asked about compatibility with other products in Retunil forum). Tho i think SAS might be too much with realtime enabled.. Im not too knowledgeble about security programs (overall) so, do you think 4 realtime scanners will collide badly?

Ive heard that Spybot's immunization list hasent been updated for quite a while and it would be bit useless with so many old sites etc, in the list. Can you tell me how it really is, because havent got a clue :D
Not using Spybot's immunization atm, il enable it when il get bit more info oO

Dang, totally forgot sumo and secunia.. Thanks for good suggestion :) il add secunia right away!

And sry my english, probably have some typos :D

Simple and secure :) I guess the setup you have is one of the effective ones performance vs. security wise. Havent had eny trouble with that setup?

SAS is definitely not recommended. As for Returnil, that's your decision.

Spybot's Immunize list is usually updated every week.

Im curious, why not recommended? SAS version 5.0 does look pretty and feel more professional than v4 ^_^

Okay, thanks. Il enable it asap. :)

How does your setup work overall?

V4's performance wasn't good, but that may change. I just find 4 separate real-time scanners working in the same area too much that's all.

My setup works great for me (although too complex for most others). Haven't been infected with it yet.

One application for each layer is the golden rule. Having 4 real-time scanning AV/AM may even result in a weakened protection due to errors with interactions.

This is how I look at it:

    1st layer: AV/AM
2nd layer: Behavior blocker/HIPS (i.e. Mamutu, OA, DW)
3rd layer: Virtual environment (i.e. Sandboxie, Shadow Defender)
4th layer: On-demand scanner (i.e MBAM, Hitman, SAS)

V5 is showing improvement. Hm, yes think il agree to that as well. Seems SAS uses pretty much memory when scanning realtime, might be because of conflicts with the other scanners.. Think il disable realtime in SAS.

SAS got 18.56% on latest flash test? :doubt:

Well i can see why diversity is a good thing with ur setup :)
Im intrested about SRP, think il have to research on that one.

I've just downloaded installers for Comodo, OA and PrivateFirewall but can't make up my mind on which one to install.

I see Comodo gets excellent results on testings, but there was a reason I didn't want it before. I don't remember what it was any more - maybe it was difficult to uninstall or some privacy issues? Can anyone remind me, please?

I had OA on 32bit system and it was a resource hog. I understand version 5 is lighter.

I've never tried PrivateFirewall. They say it's light on system resources but it doesn't score that high on tests compared to Comodo and OA.

Please, advise on what would be the best choice. Take into account compatibility with my existing setup.

Plus, I might install AppGuard. Will it have any problems with any of these firewalls?

No trouble with my setup. I can go anywhere I want online, do anything I want to do online without getting infected.

Scans with SAS, Mbam and MSE are spotlessly clean.

    No lag and no drag.

Removed Prevx. Turned on MBAM real-time protection. Installed Look 'n' Stop Firewall for a trail run.

I like Prevx a lot. I know this is going to sound odd, but every so often I get the urge to change up my security.:) I go back and forth with Prevx and MBAM, because they both seem really good and cover similar areas, though the MRG flash tests seem to favor MBAM. I guess I can't decide which is better, so I switch them out frequently.
