Prevx has been having issues with My F-Secure. They fought consistently. I emailed Prevx and was told to uninstall and than reinstall. Prevx will not reinstall says there are still parts of Prevx on the system. So I did a forced uninstall in safe mode still no luck

Re: why buy prevx when there is HitManPro?

    Can you try these steps!

    1. Run the removal tool from http://info.prevx.com/download.asp?g...iuninstalltool Then reboot your PC.
    2. Run. "c:\program files\prevx\prevx.exe" /prop UNINSTALL=AUTO And reboot again!

Then install Prevx again to see if it installs properly and please let us know!

@hightechredneck69 you'll probably also want to temporarily disable f-secure while you do that; f-secure's process monitor will trigger on the execution of the prevx removal tool and keep it from completing correctly.

Yes, don't forget to disable "scan for virus and spyware" and "deepguard" while uninstalling Prevx with the removal tool. When you install Prevx again, try to lower its self protection to minimum so that it doesn't interfere with F-Secure.

Still says I need to finish uninstalling prevx before I try to reload. I had Fsecure totally turned off ran ccleaner reinstalled even search for old Prevx files. And nothing. Guess I am going to try hitman or something else. And the Lisc for Prevx is wasted now

Could you try running the force uninstall tool once again and then try reinstalling Prevx fresh with F-Secure disabled as it is now?

    Let me know your results!

Same message I do appreciate your help. It just seems something with Fsecure. They were fighting and I was getting tons of warnings from fsecure about Prevx trying to shut down multiple functions I originally had it installed with Bitdefender, but liked Fsecure so much better I bought a lisc for all the computers in my house. I guess I could run it on the Desktop which has vipre, but I a thinking of switching over to fsecure.

The uninstaller only seems to work in safe mode and throws up error messages even with fsecure turned off

Would it to much trouble to uninstall Fsecure then try the steps again to get Prevx installed and then reinstall Fsecure and lets us know? And if you get them running together send a Prevx scan log to report@prevxresearch.com with the link to this thread and then PrevxHelp will be able to look at it!

SO after all that still not loading. It is just to hard to make it work with Fsecrue. I uninstalled F-secure than ran the uninstall Prevx. That tried to load Prevx. Same error message. Thanks for all the help. But I will just call the lisc a donation. Sad I just got the Lisc.

I am open to trying other things. But this has been a two week process with the Prevx customer support through their website as well

Could you double check that you're running the uninstaller as an administrator? If you have UAC enabled, it could prevent it from cleaning properly.

If so, could you give me more details about your OS so that I can give more specific instructions?

Well hail mary and Prevx it actually seems to be working. I turned off everything again. Run uninstaller as admin. No difference in the errors thrown up by the uninstaller, but it loaded. I entered my lisc in have seen no fighting yet. Will check it out the next few days and repost.

Great! Can you please send a Prevx scan log as I suggested before? ;) This is the reason why: https://www.wilderssecurity.com/showpost.php?p=1662381&postcount=1

Re: why buy prevx when there is HitManPro?

The popup you received is incorrect from F-Secure. Prevx opens processes for read access but is not trying to terminate protected processes. Could you reinstall and select "I trust the program. Allow it." so that Prevx can continue functioning properly?

    Thanks!

After clicking allo 122 times it is still not working. I am Contacting F-Secure tech support to see if there is a easier way. Or Maybe I will switch away from F-Secure to another antivirus. I was on Chat with one of their Tech support guys and it was a waste of time

Re: why buy prevx when there is HitManPro?

I haven't used F-Secure but I suspect other members here have. Does anyone know if F-Secure offers the ability to allow/trust a program by directory? If so, you can exclude:

    "C:\Program Files\Prevx\Prevx.exe"

and that should prevent it from warning (if it has that ability).

    Thanks!

Re: why buy prevx when there is HitManPro?

I checked it was under allowed on Deepgaurd. I am not sure what is going on with this conflict. When I hear from F-secure I will let you know. It seems to be their issue. But in the grand scheme I paid for both and cant use both.

But I do like Prevx. Maybe there is someway to whitelist it with F-secure.
Or what other antivirus is better. I hate spending more money
But I am tired of trying Antiviruses and not finding one that seems to work.

Re: why buy prevx when there is HitManPro?

Prevx with SafeOnline is a great standalone Anti-Malware: http://www.prevx.com/freescan.asp and is certified and tested by West Coast Labs 24/7/365 days a year http://www.prevx.com/certification.asp and http://www.westcoastlabs.com/checkmark/productList/?vendorID=119 it's all I use and if the Prevx Client can't clean up an infection a Prevx Engineer will connect to your PC and manually disinfect! http://www.prevx.com/freescan.asp#guaranteed and if you really need an AV you could use one of the free AV's out there with Prevx.

Here is a copy of the Email from F-secure.
    Dear Todd,

    Thank you for contacting F-Secure.

With regards to your enquiry, the program that you mention Prevx is an Anti virus program. You could not have two anti virus in one computer. One of the anti virus will be conflicting to each other in time. This mean that one of the anti virus or both of the anti virus will fail.

Please feel free to contact us again should you need further assistance.

    Thank you.

    Best regards,
    Jerry

    There tech support is lacking.

I asked about a refund I will go back to either Vipre or Avast or maybe MSE

I'm using Prevx with VIPRE AV only on all of my VM's without issues and have used NOD32 and Prevx without issues also!

Not to beat a dead horse, but:

Since day 1 of installing Prevx, about 3 years or so ago, NOD32 was already on my system. Through all the upgrades and changes, neither has EVER caused a problem. And this involved 2 different OS's, XP and WIN7/64. And running right in the mix is MBAM, too!
