I need something extremely secure to last against targeted attack
cuz my last setup failed miserably with all of the on demand scanner


I'm thinking somthing like :

Avast free :
comodo Fw d+
sandboixe free

On demand :
Hitman
MBAM free
SAS



any other recommendation ??

If you can afford, just use Sandboxie (paid) and Mamutu or something like Comodo or OA Premium same.

It has better security!

I don't thing a paid anti virus will help

as on the last setup i tried every ondemand scanner with no use

hitman ,prevex ,sas ,MSE ,MBAM ,SBs&d , sophos ARK ,TDSSkiller, Gmer, DRweb, emisoft emregency , blacklight

AVG RD , DRweb RD

so i think it was a fully undetected Rootkit or something

@Ranget just get your hips program ready and a system restore ready or create an imagine with comodo time machine which is free and get hitman pro free just to confirm your system is free and you are set to go
i my self use Online Armor premium and i am planing to get OA++ which has antivirus engines(dual engine)and comodo time machine for just in case OA++ fails me then i can restote my system back to earlier time

I run these security application on my home pc and on my laptop both running Windows 7 Ultimate, Service Pack 1
Do you guys think my level of protection is alright? Am i a bit over-zealous maybe..? It'll be nice to have some feedback. Thank you !

Got the MacBook first thing I did was install Sophos AV Free and Chrome.

Setup:

Sophos AV Free RT
Chrome w/ NotScript and ADP (Easylist, malware list, social list )
Firewall on set to stealth.

I am curious, (and no offense to anyone) but how do you KNOW a security tool is "solid". I see lots of posts here that go something like this:

I am trying out product XYZ, and nothing gets by it.

Is throwing a few malware samples at it the beginning and end of the test? What is the criteria for claims of "pure awesomeness"?

and it failed miserably

 

yeap it is solid of personal testing and some advise from others plus you feel protected from malware and what the heck when it does have good recomendations from developers my 2 mexican pesos

 

Security doesn't have to be overwhelming. You only need to know what you can achieve with the following (IMHO): Operating system and web browser.

If you know how to use those two, then only one factor remains - You.

I can tell you that my main security is how I use my web browser. Anything that may pass through it and touch the operating system, will be in a vegetative state.

My setup, which I'll probably keep for awhile:

-Only me using the PC (<=major point)
-32bit OS, up-to date, Windows FW enabled
-KAV 2012, customized: FileAV, System Watcher, Proactive defense with all options enabled; other minor tweaks
-Sandboxie (Free; planning on getting a license when I get a chance a credit card), working on some tweaks.
-Firefox with NoScript (blocking scripts from 3rd party sites, allowed only what is necessary) and AdblockPlus (blocking malverts)
-NortonDNS, blocking bad domains.
-Opera running in Sandboxie when going to unknown sites.
-frequently exploited programs (flash, Java etc.) kept up-to-date (as much as possible)

Also...looks like the iMacs will get a refresh tomorrow, (hopefully).
If the refresh isn't a BIG step forward i'll probably go with a MacBook Pro.

@Ranget & zorbis: Both of you need disk imaging. Also regular updates using SUMo, Secunia, or something else.

 

Guess what d00ds.
Finally after 2 months and a week or so i got my pc fixed!
Couldn't fix it before because i had to work but my bro was free and he got some spare parts to fix it in the meantime
I just need to buy a new cheapo dvd writer (LG 21$) and i'm good to go!!
