Yes, most of the changes are "under the hood". I do like the default simplified UI, which makes it possible to go through the settings in more manageable groups. It's still possible though to "pin" the advanced view in the main window to make it look like the 2011 UI.

2012 appears to be a refinement of 2011 - no big new features, however the product was already very strong. I don't think it needs big changes or additions.

Found that and like the idea of it. Give everyone the option to see what they want to. I will likely use the advanced view.

I am looking forward to the reliability ratings in the new version of Download Insight 2.0. I just hope they can come up with an accurate database for this.

I'm certainly not a Norton fanboy, but I have to say those AV-Test results are quite extraordinary, especially for a Beta.

I have been running it since it's release and have not had a negative issue with it yet. Seems like a very good release.

I think for me, the #1 FEATURE thats probably worth the price of the entire product is

Identity Safe 2.0 in the cloud
Yes, that is correct. Identity Safe 2012 supports storing your data in the secure Norton cloud. You can set up Identity Safe in the cloud and use it from multiple computers. An online profile is created using your existing Norton Account.

With over 2 dozen user IDs/password, keeping them all up to date across multiple computers has become a real chore. And yes, I know there are other solutions available like Chrome, Firefox plugins, LastPass etc., I dont trust any of these companies with my passwords.

Finally!! Finally!! Finally!!! Good job Symantec.

Not really, this is the new #1 features,

    SONAR 4.0 ,

    SONAR Policy Enforcement

We now have the ability to convict a suspicious process based on a behavioral “profile.” To create these profiles, an analyst looks at the 500+ attributes that SONAR tracks and make a series of associations For example, let’s say a particular process tried to access the system folder and tried to call home, but does not have any running UI. Also, it downloaded more than 15 files the previous day. Any one of these things alone may not be “bad,” but taken as a whole, the behavioral profile is bad. The analyst will therefore make a rule that says if we see this string of behaviors, then we should stop the process from executing. Doing all of this is a big deal--we aren’t just looking at what the process does on your computer, we are also looking at its communication characteristics!

    Non Process Threats (NPTs)

Sonar 4.0 also introduces protection against Non Process Threats (NPTs). As the name suggests, these threats are not active processes by themselves, but they inject themselves into legitimate active processes
. SONAR 4.0 technology is able to much more aggressively remove threats on pre-infected machines.

The beta testing license is free. Download it and register for the beta and they will give you an activation code. It should be free until the beta testing is over, if you are willing to run beta software.

Thanks but I prefer to wait until next year and test for the official release of Norton 2012 antivirus.

Next year? it will be out in 2 months or so, because this beta builds are more stable then anything i saw in my life, (at this stage) they work perfect for me, and many others. So the official version should be out soon.

Nice improvements are expected in 2012 especially performance and SONAR. Integration in Google Chrome is welcomed edition.

Being that there has to my knowledge only been 1 public beta build I wouldn't get in too much of a hurry. August to September seems likely.

How is it on system resources? Is it light? Say compared to Eset or Avira?
