...but now they are part of Webrot (sic) who produce some good bloatware in my experience, or more precisely, they take other companies efficient products (privatefirewall, sophos) but then combine it with their own spyware bloatware which results in stopping a netbook or older laptop down to a crawl.

Of all the companies that could have taken over Prevx i think Webroot was one of the worst and could only have been made worse if it had been McAfee or Norton. I personally wish it would have been Comodo but these guys like to issue alpha software as the final release product and so screw their reputation for quality.

Let's hope v4 is untarnished by Webrot but by the time v5 arrives it may be time to find a Prevx alternative.

FYI McAfee can't take over anyone since they are owned by Intel.

If it was ready you would know because there would be tons of posts about it from excited Wilders members and all would post it in the what's your security setup thread :p

You wouldn't, but a lot probably will, this thread already has 553 replies and 34537 views, and I see impatient members on other parts of the forums as well.

    Don't even say that!!! :ouch:

Everything COMODO touches, gets destroyed... I'm thinking about BOClean... It had a nice end...

You can bet your ass that if COMODO would ever buy Prevx, that Prevx would no longer be what it is. It would eventually become part of their suite and become a bloated non-functional crap...

Never wish for that!! Never!! :-*

    Isn't BOClean integrated into CIS/CFW?
Are you saying that CFW is bloated and non-functional crap already?

So any answer to my question?

So Prevx 4.0 will have a firewall now? Will it be functional in the free version? It would be nice to consolidate and get rid of ZoneAlarm.

I believe Jmonge is most likely right. I'm pretty sure after beta testing is over it will only be available as a paid feature. Don't quote me though. I can't wait to try it out!

It`s being tested "in house" only as far as I know - no alphas, betas or anything yet as far as I can tell anyway.

Why not read the 500+ posts in this thread instead of asking a pointless (and often posed) question?

    500+ Really

If the question bothered you that much just move past the question, pretty simple. Just a thought...

Prevx 4 is being developed as attested by PrevxHelp who works for the company. Admittedly, there are over 500 posts here in this thread so it is easy to miss something important that has already been said. PrevxHelp has said the hold-up with releasing the beta is not just on making sure the product is ready and usable for public consumption, but also the cloud database is being rewritten as well along with other core structure improvements. This is what is taking the developers more time to get it right. When the beta is finally released, it'll be announced in this forum. :)
