Virtually never do pay for my AV/security software. Where I live, if I shop smart, I'm able to get my security software for free every year (after rebates).

I usually don't post my security setup becaues then people would think I'm biased in what I say.

    Right I'm running;

    - Avast Free; Auto-sandbox disabled and only running Behavior, Network, Script and File shield = really light.

    - Sandboxie; Using the experimental protection for x64 which provides as secure protection as it does for x86-architecture. Browser (Chrome) sandboxed with Drop My Rights and delete of data on exit. Download directory set to a forced folder which doesn't allow Internet access. All Internet facing applications are sandboxed in different sandboxes as well which are restricted to access the web and restricted to run any other application than the sandbox is for.

    - Admuncher; Which blocks all advertisments which are potentially malicious in some cases.

    - Hitman Pro; For on-demand scans.

    - Virus Total uploader; For applications downloaded into the download area which is also forced Sandboxed with no Internet access.

It is tempting but I need to start making apps ASAP if I want to make a profit off of it ;) the longer I wait the higher the chances someone else will come up with a similar idea. Not to mention I will lose my student discount soon :(

I like! Antivirus programs are a joke, let alone having to pay for one. Some eventually see the light, others struggle though the fog.

Sadly, I was needed to remove AppGuard due to a serious bug of some sort. All of a sudden, I could not start one single application on my computer. I couldn't uninstall AppGuard and was therefore forced to revert back to an old image. I installed AppGuard again but after a few days I got the same error (Error message saying I didn't have the privileges to start applications). So I reverted back and tried without AppGuard, and no everything's fine.

AppGuard is still used as the only protection for the other 5 computers at home though! It's only my gamer PC that can't take AppGuard at the moment. I will go back to it as soon as the new version is released.

Hmmmm, gamer PC. Already pretty sure has a bunch of rootkit protections installed, courtesy of game vendors. :gack:

removed MBAM, leaving only Hitman Pro as on-demand scanner.

one of these thing is more than enough, imo.

hell, the only thing Hitman ever finds are tracking cookies.....

No rootkits installed. I only play Steam games and I always make sure to look at what DRM-protection the games have before I buy them. And besides, AppGuard was working well for 4 months before is bugged my computer with the same software & games installed.

Thanks for your response shadek. I am looking forward to the next release also. I haven't had the problems that you have had on your gamer PC, but I have run into other issues that I hope will be resolved soon.

    My setup:

    DNS service: Norton DNS
Ad bloking: Fanboy TPL“s for IE9

Browser protection: IE9 runs under Sandboxie[Drop rights and delete on exit enabled]+Keyscrambler. The sandbox folder is directed to a RAM disk (Dataram Ramdisk), so the sandbox folder itself is totally erased at system restart/shutdown.

Real-time AV: Avast free with file shield and webshield.

File shield - C:\ is excluded from real time in order to enhance system and programs performance. File shield scans all other partitions (the RAM disk where the sandbox is placed; the partition used for data storage and where all download locations are placed[into one single folder]; removable devices).

Webshield - max. heuristics, potentialy unwanted programs scan enabled.

On demand AV: Hitman Pro with automated daily scans.

System restore: Keriver 1 Click Restore free - To restore a clean image through the boot screen in case any malware infects the system, instability after some update... Also use Shadow Defender when i want to try new software.

    System: Windows 7 x64
    Administrator account
    UAC: enabled [MAX.]
    Windows firewall: enabled
    Windows Defender: disabled
    System restore: disabled
    Autorun: disabled

Other software [maintenance]: Filehippo update checker, CCleaner, Puran Defrag, Advanced System Care.

All free versions, except Shadow Defender.
    Any suggestion? Thanks!:thumb:

Does OA++ include both AV-engines (Emsisoft and Ikarus) or just Emsisoft's engine?
