I think you are going to try and be the 1,000,000th viewer of this thread, then post your new setup right before this thread is locked :D :argh:

You must anticipate that it will hit 999,999 on monday sometime ;)

    Sul.

Excellent theory, Sul! But if that is trjam's plan, a locked thread does not mean a locked avatar, right?

I think Jeff believes he can either
    a) stay with one program for 8 months, or
    b) change til his heart's content, but will leave his avatar untouched, or
    c) he knows he'll break his vow and looks forward to purchasing software for his friends!!

I'm not bothered by the rest of your statement, but what about the snapshots you have AVs installed in? This is, in case anyone doesn't realise, is why you change your avatar dependent on which you're using at that time. Unless you're going to tell us you are ditching them all, which, by your standards, will be a first for Wilders. ;)

FYI. The Win version doesn't notify the user either.
But checking the ESET forum, or website isn't very hard. :)

Though I do agree that it should notify the user about new versions.

ESET for Windows generation 5 will notify you about updates. I don't expect many updates before the release of generation 5 anyway, maybe one with some fixes / compatability fixes.

    1. Will the Mac version do the same?
    2. If I purchase the license for v4 now, will I be eligible for free upgrade to v5?

    1. I don't know anything about the release schedule on the Mac.
    2. Yes, you buy a license for a ESET security product not for a version of a ESET security product. So you are allowed to always use the very latest version available of your ESET security product.

Haha it was going to be a Mac book pro but for what I need (app design) an air will do fine and be 10x more portable at a cheaper price ;)

I really really wanted to buy a MacBook Air but the lack of backlit keyboard was something that I could not ignore. Had to go with MacBook Pro instead. Waiting for the June refresh of the MacBook Air line. If backlit keyboard makes the cut, my current machine will be transferred to my parents.

OA's HIPS component can get on my nerves at times. Sometimes I turn it off or switch it to learning mode when I am tweaking something just so it will leave me alone. Mamutu would be a good behavior blocker choice since you can set it for smart blocking or paranoid mode.
