Comodo Defense+

If I installed Comodo Internet Security on a clean PC. Would having Defense+ alone be enough to protect against treats assuming the settings were blocking all unknowns files?

 

I suppose it is, but it's always a good idea to have backups. The biggest weakness of D+ in my opinion, is the huge trusted vendors whitelist.

 

If you have Sandbox enabled you should be good.

 

D+ alone cannot protect from all the malware in its standard mode (it suppose to do this, but in the real world it is not able.. but since now only a couple of known malware -gpcode is one of them- can bypass it)

if the setting is to block all the unknown files* then you can stay secure: from what we know at the moment, an untrusted/unknown file* will be certainly blocked!


*= group of files that are not in the Trusted Software Vendors

 

Go to C:\Program Files: Comodo: go to Database, delete Vendor.n. no more trusted vendors whitelist.

if you do not want to use Trusted Software Vendors list simply switch to Paranoid Mode:
SafeMode purpose is to use TSV's list for "whitelisting" secure programs, but for every other unknown software you'll be prompted as if you are in Paranoid Mode;

so if you do not trust TSV's list, simply use Paranoid Mode without touching Comodo's files

Anyways, for some reason i always feel like a need for at least 1 signature based av on my pc
