I have installed Firefox 4.0 (stable version) when it first came out around 2 weeks ago.

I have noticed that its slower. is it me or has any one noticed it slower?

Im using a laptop with I7 windows 7 64bit and Nvidia Geforce 310M.

i have disabled my Hardware acceleration. would enabling it make it faster or have i done the right thing disabling it?

Try browsing on a new profile (firefox.exe -p).

    It's definitely faster for me.

    Perhaps eliminate slow performing add-ons

    thanks ive done that.

Disabling Hardware accereration has it been the right choice disabling it? i disabled it coz in a website it says u should if u have a laptop. though i thought it would make it faster but i might be wrong.

ive also deleted some pages from bookmarks as well

If you had carefully read this page you would have noticed that it refers only to start-up time. It has nothing to do with browsing speed of FF. Please don't confuse the OP.

If I had Browser issues, I would want to to have all options available to me.

    Hi chaos16 :)

Did you update from Firefox 3 to Firefox 4 - OR - Was your Firefox 4 a fresh new Install?

    The Reason I'm Asking...
When I first got Firefox 4 on my two computers.. It was from updating from Firefox 3.
Firefox 4 was absolutely Dreadful :'(
    Slow To Start
    Slow To Browse
    And...
Firefox 4 seemed to be misbehaving in every possible way

After a couple of hours fighting with Firefox 4...
Decided to do a complete Fresh Install on both my Laptop and Desktop. ( Getting Rid Of Old Profile settings.. The Lot! )
It seemed drastic at the time :'(
But it worked out for the best!
As my Firefox 4 is now a speedy little Fox again :D

    Note!
Also found the following Add-ons do not work well with Firefox 4...
    Fox Tab
    Avast WebRep

I agree with Zeena, if that's indeed what happened. Doing anything less than a clean install of FF4 is a bad idea.

I replaced Firefox 3 with FF4 and did not use a new profile initially and it was a crawl. After I created a new profile, it was much snappier than FF 3. That is almost certainly your problem, OP.

That's complete nonsense unless your video card sucks.

A lot of people's hardware acceleration will be disabled, even if they think it's on, as Mozilla have quite a strict policy regarding supported video cards and driver versions: https://wiki.mozilla.org/Blocklisting/Blocked_Graphics_Drivers

In some (if not all) laptops, both the Intel integrated graphics and the so-called "card" (also integrated) work together. That is, the card only works when it is "needed", and most of the time it is not. This reduces the energy usage. So the hardware acceleration works mostly with the integrated Intel graphics, and the effect can be very limited.
