I dont use an ad-blocker, too much slowdown for my taste. I use noscript instead. Ads are also blocked :thumb:
Just try it solo. Its not 100% rate of course but its enough blocking for me. You dont have to click on a those ads that slip trough ;)

The only issue is (and I'm facing that issue with ABP being problematic at the moment for me), is that with NoScript, you're left with a lot of empty boxes on the page with the NoScript symbol inside them. It looks ugly. Also, NoScript will sometimes slow loading pages as well. A lot of those ad servers are persistent little buggers that try hard to load.

There is a really really small chance i will visit a page again that is full of noscript placeholders :D
Btw u can turn off that symbols from noscript.

Try Adblock Plus Pop-up Addon. It requires Adblock Plus, which you already have.
Doesn't come with subscriptions, but you can easily create your own rules with it.

i don't know if someone has mentioned it but FoxTab is a very good "Speed Dial" addon.

i like that i can open it with left+right mouse button.
you can open your favorite bookmarks very fast! :thumb:

    Firefox 4 and Noscript.
What is the current version you are using?

    I'm using 2.0.9.9.
There is a newer version out, 2.1.0.1, but when I go to Add-Ons, I have the latest. Add-Ons website has 2.0.9.9. Noscript.net has for download 2.0.9.9. Apparently there have been 2 releases since 2.0.9.9, 2.1.0 and 2.1.0.1.
Noscript website states FF 4 is better protected by 2.1.0.1. :shrugs:

The author has done that a few times, actually. The official website does now have a direct link to 2.1.0.1, listed under "Direct Download". As soon as I put 2.0.9.9 on, it immediately told me on the website (by the way, does anyone else get a little tired of being redirected to the website?) that I was using an old version, even though Mozilla itself said it was the latest, and 2.1.0.1 was nowhere to be found to download on the website (yesterday). So, your issue happens just about every time he's done an update.

You can install the newer version directly from the noscript webpage.

You can turn that off in the NoScript options, Notifications tab. Uncheck "Display release notes on updates".

Thanks, Sbseven! All these years of NoScript use and I never managed to see that. *shakes head in shame* :D

My NoScript just updated to 2.1.0.1, interesting changes:

    • Transparent Firefox Sync support, to share all your NoScript settings across multiple workstations.
    • Improved anti-XSS protection against potential risks from new HTML 5 features.
    • Middle clicking NoScript's toolbar button temporarily allows all on current page.

    Hi :)

Lost a couple of my old Add-Ons during the upgrade to Firefox 4 :(

    Old Add-On List: Firefox 3
    Also!

    Fox Tab : Caused This...

    White_Box_When_Minimised.png

    Avast WebRep : Caused This...

    Should Be WOT and WR.JPG

    However!
Have also got a couple of New Add-Ons

    First One I Got Was...
    Gmail Watcher: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/gmail-watcher/

    Next One Was...
    Zoom Page: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/zoom-page/#reviews

    Then Just Today...
    Tab Scope: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/tab-scope/#reviews

    Also Tried...
    Movable Firefox Button: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/movable-firefox-button/#reviews
Tried it whilst trying to get rid of the white square that Fox Tab caused.
    Liked Movable Firefox Button :thumb:

Hey Zeena, that picture you showed pointing out WOT, that's not WOT. That's indeed Avast Web Rep. Do you have both installed? Perhaps WOT had an identity crisis :D If you have both installed, it isn't necessary. In my opinion, at this time WOT would be a better bet. It's had time to mature and get information from the web, Web Rep is the new kid on the block.

FontFinder is created for designers, developers and typographers.
It allows a user to analyze the font information of any element on a page,
copy any piece(s) of that information to the clipboard, and perform inline replacements to test new layouts.

    Context Font
Show the font of selected text in the context menu.

Interesting, thank you for posting that. I noticed that Adblock Plus is number 12 on the list, slowing Firefox down by as much as 21%. My question to everyone: wouldn't that be somewhat compensated for by the fact that your browser doesn't have to show those %&*# ads, that there would be fewer images to download?

    Thanks,
    Acadia

When we remove some add-on it is 100% removed or is like the programs (Leave trails)?

That list only refers to start-up. And I'm not sure whether that's a start-up after booting or what.

They don't talk about slowing down Fx during a browsing session as opposed to start-up. But, as you say, the time saved in not downloading blocked content should more than compensate.

I had installed Stratiform and then uninstalled it. There were quite a few scattered entries relating to Stratiform remaining in localstore.rdf (which is a plain text file). Knowing what remains in more complex .sqlite files is for the experts.
