This only started recently, but when I 'left click' on a webpage link, many times I get the following menu to copy text. See screenshot. I have to click again and maybe it will open the page that I want. It is annoying and I am at a loss in how to stop this mouse behaviour. I am sure it is something simple to fix, but I don't know it.

I am using Opera browser, but the problem occurs when accessing folders, files etc. I get the highlighted in blue, as if I am copying rather than trying to open a folder/file.

Basically, when I left click on something...I don't want to copy. I probably haven't explained it very well. o_O

Heh, when your issue gets figured out, it might lead to mine getting settled. I get the same weird behavior in FF4, and more. With me, if I try to log in here, not only can I not highlight the entire username portion of the login to put mine in, it'll highlight the big "Wilders Security Forums" title on the page instead. Somehow, inexplicably, jumping across the page to highlight something I didn't even touch. I also get back button issues (here included), where instead of backing up one page (on websites that are able to do that), it'll go back to another previous website, sometimes further. To add to that, sometimes I'll get two windows when I click on, let's say an options menu, instead of one. I'm on a fresh, new profile and it's doing this, lol.

I wish I knew what to do about your issue, but I'll be watching this thread. What you're experiencing certainly isn't normal.

Do you also get that menu when you left click on an empty space on the webpage?

You're welcome. Hopefully, an answer will be found. ;)

I can left click several times and nothing happens, but then the left click goes :( ...see screenshots.

How does that menu match up with your right click?

In both the previous pictures you have something selected. Try the right click experiment under the same condition.

I suspect your right button has gotten sensitive from age. You could try a different mouse and see if the problem still shows.

Selected...yes, but not of my volition.

    Sorry, but I don't understand.

I haven't a spare handy. This mouse has been in use since October 2007...may be time for a new one.;)

Purposely select something then right click "on purpose" and see if it is the same menu. If it is then you have isolated the problem to the right button activating. The idea that the selection is happening accidentally too would make sense. The buttons are probably the same age. :cautious:

Unless you find another mouse to try then I think this is your probable solution.
