That depends on if they keep it a life-time license kind of deal or change it to an annual cost.

Hi, I´ve tried Appguard 3 and I found 2 problems that have forced me back to 1.4.7. The first is that if you uninstall the old version, deleting all profiles and data from the Windows registry, when Windows starts Appguard gave an error: "enter an integer between 0 and 1" and I can´t do anything.

Second problem, if I install new version over the old one, it works fine. But I have an error when I restart about appguard service: "memory can not be read "

At the moment I have Appguard 1.4.7 because version 3 doesn´t work, so I have no log files for errors.

I have exclusions for Appguard Agent and Gui both Kaspersky as Immunet. Also, I have Appguard exclusions on D.E.P. protection tab.

    Greetings.

    Hi Chipo,

Sorry that you're having issues with AppGuard 3.0. If you're willing to try 3.0 again, the first problem that you mention should be remedied by deleting your policy file. On XP this file can be found at C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Blue Ridge Networks\AppGuard\AppGuardPolicy.xml. On Vista and Win7 this file can be found at C:\users\<user_name>\AppData\Roaming\ Blue Ridge Networks\AppGuard\AppGuardPolicy.xml.

If you experience the 2nd problem again, will you take a screen shot of the message and send it to AppGuard@BlueRidgeNetworks.com?

Hi Barb, I have first problem when I install appguard after uninstall previous version and after delete everything about appguard (all documents and settings folders, policy files, registry keys,... all). If I install appguard over previous version, I don´t get that error but I get "memory can´t be read" for appguard agent when I restart windows. So, I dont know what to do.

I have windows xp sp3 spanish, kaspersky 2011 and immunet protect 3 (with exclusions for appguard in both programs).

Hello again, I found this message in Event Viewer:

Application popup: AppGuardAgent.exe - Application Error: The instruction at "0x004069f8"referenced memory at "0x0000017c". The memory could not be "read. "

Click OK to terminate the program
Click CANCEL to debug the program

Well, we bought the life-time licenses on the terms that it'd in fact be a life-time license with unlimited updates. 3 users on 1 life-time license for 25 dollars is a pretty epic deal, if you ask me!

I bought 2 of the lifetime licenses. Great deal. Also, I think my key remained the same for both licenses and should be good for 6 machines.

Just wondering, should I be concerned about adding any apps to guarded list like Adobe Acrobat full version and thanks.

The new licenses are limited to software updates within the same version number. That is a licensee buying version 3.x will be entitled to all updates to version 3.x. However, they would not be entitled to updates to a version 4.x or to updates to a 'new product' such as "AppGuard Pro" or "AppGuard Ultimate".

Prior licenses are perpetual use but are not entitled to an "AppGuard Pro" or some other 'new product'.

Pricing goes into effect at midnight tonight eastern standard time. Logistics might defer this a little but I'd advise those interested to 'buy' before midnight.

I have to say that the Appguard team; Eirik, Barb, and the mysterious genius geek engineers they keep locked up in the basement of headquarters are an awesome team. great product and great support. If you couldn't tell AppGuard is currently my absolute favorite security program bar-none, and I would challenge anyone to bring proof of more solid protection for your average user. With that being said, I think this new pricing scheme stinks. I understand Blueridge is in business to make money and I try to point people needing security to AppGuard. What once was the best deal on a security program on the planet (besides free of course) is now priced just like every other security program out there. What happened did development go over budget? Are sales down in the enterprise sector? Why get rid one of AG's best selling attributes: it's incredibly affordable and average person friendly price? :(

No "Pro" version now; its only a POSSIBILITY in the future.

    Many thanks for the kudos.

As those that have frequented AppGuard threads here at Wilders for a while may know, your feedback has been heard as has been reflected in product features and implementation. We will relay your feedback regarding pricing as well.

    Cheers,

    Eirik

So the product Appguard is still life-time, but would AppGuard in its current state provide less protection than an eventual AppGuard Pro/Ultimate version? With other words just to clarify; Would AppGuard ever be stripped of features to make Pro/Ultimate look better hence giving us with a life-time license on our hands a weakened protection?

I think the change only applies to new licences, not existing ones; but I could be wrong.

    Very disappointing.

If the new Pro version goes ahead it appears that we have been suckered into buying a license for a Lite version of the program. Will BlueRidge strip features out of the Lite/present version for the Pro?

It is very early days but recent buyers of the program thought that we were sold "lifetime versions" of the flag-ship Home program; we are now told that this is not the case.

I would not advise this if in the future you are left with a stripped-down inferior version of AG, unless you pay more dollars out for the upgrade.

Oh well, it looks like another "lifetime" version bites the dust.

As soon as the "new" Pro version is announced and current license holders are not allowed to upgrade for free, I will be dropping AG like a hot potato.

And then I will return to the best "lifetime license" of the lot, Sandboxie. At least Tzuk has been true to his word so far.

1000db said it very well. Even though I think that the program needs a fair amount of refinement, I bought it (before the price increase was announced) because I figured that I couldn't go too far wrong for $25, and I could give our 3 home machines an extra level of protection. At the current $40/$90 price I am quite sure that I would have passed since I have also purchased some other good security programs which have been working quite well. Also, the new Prevx 4 is right around the corner. I have no idea how successful AppGuard has been for Blue Ridge, but I doubt that it would have been on my radar screen if I didn't frequent the Wilders site. It would be interesting to hear the rationale for this decision. :)
