Does that mean that Prevx 4 beta is now publicly available? If not, it's a little misleading to say that Firefox 4 IS supported by software that is not yet available. It might be more accurate to say that Firefox 4 WILL BE supported by the Prevx 4 beta when it's released.

This is the Firefox 4 Compatibility issues thread and I'm just providing info with the links I posted, and when Prevx 4 Beta is released it will be posted in the Prevx Beta forum! It just sounds unlikely that Prevx 3 will support FF4 but that's only coming from me! https://www.wilderssecurity.com/showpost.php?p=1848419&postcount=34 you guys need to relax and chill! :isay:

Agree. Such a clarification has value.

Who "guys" (plural)? Only one poster offered the clarification. IMO, this "chill out" comment is an unnecessarily imperious put-down of pegr's worthwhile comments.

For clarity, I wasn't asking when the Prevx 4 beta will be released (it was a rhetorical question), and I wasn't questioning that the Prevx 4 beta will support Firefox 4 when it is released. I was only saying that that it's slightly misleading to suggest that Firefox 4 is supported by the Prevx 4 beta when the beta hasn't been released yet, nothing more than that.

I do find it a little odd though that Prevx have chosen to ignore ongoing support for their current production version in order to focus entirely on future development. IMO paying customers of the current version are entitled to a degree of support in order to fix bugs, address compatibility issues resulting from browser updates, etc.

from what ive read in the prevx forum, it would take longer to add support for FF4 in prevx 3 than it would to release prevx 4, or something like that. i guess prevx just fell behind during the FF betas:doubt:

I think you're probably right about Prevx not bothering to keep up with the Firefox 4 betas, which would explain why it would be a lot of development effort now to release a compatibility update for Prevx 3.

Trusteer released a Rapport compatibility update immediately for Firefox 4 though, so I guess they must have been keeping up to date with the Firefox 4 betas. :)

I think it's worth keeping in mind that we don't know what it takes to maintain compatibility in each case. There's a tendency to think that the effort is the same across different products and if a vendor is not keeping up they must be slacking off. I don't have a way to assess that so I try to give people the benefit of the doubt. On the other hand I do use Firefox 4 so I've turned to other security apps for protection, at least temporarily. I will definitely have a look at Prevx 4 when it becomes available.

I think you are making a valid point. Nonetheless, I would like to think that Prevx 3 will continue to be maintained, kept up to date, and supported - at least until Prevx 4 is out of beta and released to manufacture as production software.

My AVG Linkscanner just did an update that required a PC restart. I do not remember what the AVG Linkscanner version number was before the update. After the update the version numbers are:

    AVG Linkscanner: 10.0.1209
    AVG Safe Search Addon: 10.0.0.1209

I think that this "may" be the update to fix the compatibility issue with Firefox 4. I am not sure. However, I plan to wait for a while before updating to Firefox 4.

Window Washer stopped working after I had installed Firefox 4. I removed Firefox 4 this afternoon and installed the previous version again and now Window Washer works as before.

I have now updated to Firefox 4 on two of my three Windows XP Pro PC's. I only have two Add-ons (Adblock Plus & AVG Linkscanner). Firefox 4 and the Add-ons seem to be working OK so far.

~ Snipped as per TOS ~ I had to quote this one because it's sooo unbelievable! Who in hell would use WW nowadays when CCleaner is reliable and free? Plus it's ridiculous to diss an updated version of a browser just because a privacy cleaner isn't compatible...
