I see that Rx and Cloner 2011 have been released but it does not appear that there has been any upgrade in capability from 2010 for Rx, at least not from looking at the release notes. I did contact Horizon chat and they say that Cloner will now save all Rx snaps.

    Has anyone upgraded?

Does Cloner in fact save all Rx snaps? If so are the images created doing this full drive images and thus much larger than the 2010 Cloner images or has Horizon managed to just add the snapshot files that Windows does not see to the image? Also, do the images take much longer to create (I expect they would if full drive image is used rather than just used space, the question is by how much)?

PS: just noticed this on the Cloner webpage

Sounds too good to be true but if it is , WOW. Anyone tried this?

Cool...where do you see that? When I go to their site it doesn't look like a new version. Thanks.

The Rollback Mar2011 release is nothing more than some minor bug fixes from the Nov2010 release.

I see nothing in the Drive Cloner RELEASE NOTES concerning Rollback compatibility... my guess, no snapshots or RBRX database. I will be trying it later this week... my hopes are not very high.

According to the DV Team, this capability will come later this year... whole new version following the release of Rollback RX v10.

As an avid Rollback Rx user I tried this new Drive Cloner Rx build when it was released about 2 weeks ago. To summarize, I'd say don't waste your time! Other than branding, this is identical Keriver Image 5 in form and function and a big disappointment was finding that it doesn't offer a 'raw' image backup mode! :thumbd:

I don't know where the 'backup in seconds' comes from (I can only imagine from someone in marketing who was thinking about Rollback Rx), but a full backup at normal compression of my 20GB C-partition with about 6GB of free space took about 22 minutes. In comparison, a full backup (including verification) with Drive Snapshot took under 16 minutes. That's quite a difference considering that both images were fairly close in size.

As with every 'basic' image-backup program (from within Windows) that I've tried with Rollback Rx installed, Drive Cloner Rx only captured Rollback Rx's current snapshot and upon restoring the image Rollback Rx had to be reinstalled, so afaic this product is no more compatible with Rollback Rx than most other image-backup programs (and certainly less compatible than IFW and Drive Snapshot)!

What's the deal with Keriver Image, Eazy Image, and Drive Cloner RX? They are all the same product. I know Eazsolutions (Eazy Image) is a sister company of Horizon Datasys (Drive Cloner RX)...I have no idea how Keriver Image fits into this. Who is the "main" developer here?

Fwiw, there's little doubt in my mind that Keriver is the principal developer. But the issue here is compatibility with Rollback Rx and as I've indicated, in that regard the current release of Drive Cloner Rx leaves much to be desired.

When I was on live chat with a Horizon rep he said all snaps would be captured. I asked for info about what was new in 2011 for both Rx and Cloner and was told someone would e-mail the details. As soon as I get them I will post copies (if allowed by the mod - if not I will paraphrase which will be a pain but if I have to I will).

    Hey KOR,

I don't mind being called an old coot, but I'm not too sure about 'old cot'? :p

Btw, what's the deal with 'sindbad' - are you developing a dual personality in your old age? :D

You really have to wonder about Horizon staff. One of the things I asked via live chat was how do I upgrade to the latest version of RollBack and Drive Cloner (I pay the annual service fee). I was asked for my e-mail address and told that a senior service person would contact me with the info via e-mail. Well, I got the e-mail and what was in it? A free licence for Rx ver 9.1. Thats the version I already have and besides its not the current version.

I forgot how painful it is to deal with this company, after all its been 3 years since I had to ask for any info from them.

    Now I remember.

Wonder what I will get (if anything) in reply to my question about whats new in the new version of Rx and Cloner.

SO, perhaps Aaron Here or someone else can tell me whats involved in in upgrading and how much does it cost. I seem to recall that if you are a service subscriber you get some sort of discount but it has been a while since I read that and I don't want to search Horizons site to locate the info. Seems to me it was buried somewhere so if someone can save me the trouble of digging for the info it would be much appreciated.

    LOL!

Thanks for correcting the sp! Sorry, to call you bed (cot)!

I opened the 'sindbad' account on my desktop for my better half. But she has refused to use it so far.

In our old age, we can get away with almost anything when convenient to us, including the dual personality. People are always nice and forgiving of old folks. LOL!

    Best regards,

    KOR!

BG, I'm just an RB user like yourself (without the maintenance plan) but I found their upgrade policy.

Yw. (if you have gold support it seems that you should get a free update to v10 when it's released).

I understand that now and I do have gold support. I thought v10 had been released and if it has been I cannot seem to find out if there is any significant change to the programs. I hate upgrading if the changes are modest,,,,I hate even more having a new version number slapped on an essentially unchanged program just so the publisher can say there is a new version.

Still waiting to hear from support about whats new in the programs.

EDIT: well I am less than observant, possibly even a bit stunned. I had received an e-mail from Horizon announcing a sale they are having for Rx & DC. I just assumed that this was for the new versions. WRONG.
