Yeah I like the flexibility of Avast, especially the boot scan. I hate to drop it altogether. MSE is decent but not very much on configuration and full scans take an insane amount of time. I might revisit Avira again just to see what has changed.

I agree. I hear a lot of good about MSE with folks saying that it's really the only antivirus you will ever need. I just don't see it in the same light I guess. The scans are slow, updates can be sluggish... I don't know it just doesn't *feel* right. Saying an antivirus doesn't feel right sounds ridiculous, but everyone here understands I'm sure ;)

Heh...goes to show the difference of opinions :)

I feel exactly the same about Avast as you do MSE. For me, I haven't experienced a buggy and unreliable program like Avast in a long time. I've been told a refund is on the way. I should have trialed the program first, but that %55 discount was hard to pass up on.

MSE, on the other hand, has been quietly doing it's thing without issue.

Like I said, different experiences and opinions :)

WHAT!? Dude... get with the program, really. MSE SUCKS, Avast forever! Avast will beat out any other antivirus 24/7. It's amazing engine and features are in a league of their own.

*COUGH* :gack: *COUGH* o_O *COUGH* :ouch: *COUGH* :D I am only kidding. We all have different experiences with a program, and different opinions. No amount of useless arguing as I was doing can change that. We don't all wear the same brand and size of shoes right? Compared to most other security forums I was a member of, you Wilders folk are the most civil.

    :)

    LOL...true.

By the way, I didn't mean to take the thread of topic. I was looking at Comodo related posts (thinking of trying) and couldn't help but make the comment above while in the process ;)

Doesn't bother me any. I welcome discussion of different options. I really am quite fond of Comodo, though it's given me some issues in the past. The newer cloud based system has taken some getting use to but once you get the configuration down, Comodo seems to be one of the most secure firewalls out there.

As for AV, I use to be a big AVG user until they started getting extremely bloated. I switched to Avast and so far haven't had an issue bad enough to switch. I've installed MSE on a couple of customer computers just because they are not computer savy and one area MSE excels is simplicity. Set it and forget it. I didn't not like the feel of it either though. I too experience sluggihs updates and of course the insane scan time. Quick scan go very fast though. Avira hasn't crossed my desktop in a while now but I think I'll do some testing again.
