Some other vendors call it "quick scan" or something along those lines.

does running a complete scan really help PCAV build it's cache?

Most of what work? Scanning the files on your hard drive? How is any cloud based AV solution supposed to do that? The "cloud" part relates to were the deffinitions are held not how it scans your PC! o_O

Its' a banner and that is what's wrong with it; and just as bad as all the other ones that infest peoples PC's these days.

Yes, instead of scanning the files on your hard drive it just checks with the cloud whether they are safe and if they are unknown they are uploaded to the cloud and cloud scans it, that's how cloud scanning usually works and it's supposed to be faster than traditional.

    Thank you! :thumb:
Has anyone else experienced long boot times with PCAV? I don't mean like from power-on to logon screen, but rather from logon screen to the point where the system reaches an "idle" state.

Yup, definitely more than 20 seconds longer. That's one of the reasons I didn't kept it.

Please check again. We fixed this earlier this week with a hotfix for version 1.4 which reduces the boot load time to under 1 second.

To see if the hotfix is installed for version 1.4 check if the following key exists:
    HKLM\SOFTWARE\Panda Software\Setup\Hotfix\hfca031102s1r1

I don't have it anymore, which means I can't check. I'm sure I installed the 1.4 version though.

Another issue for me is how the URL Filtering changes my Firefox keyword.url, and redirects my address bar searches to some Panda Domain Advisor.

Yes but the hotfix wasn't release until two days ago, so it's very possible you didn't have the hotfix when you saw the 20 sec boot delay.

    Hi Pedro

I stil have the delay and do not have the hotfix despite trying a full uninstall/reinstall today. The regkey does not exit on my pc.

    Would this be because i use 64bit W7? :)

Shouldn't have anything to do with W7x64. The hotfix applies itself upon reboot, so make sure to reboot once or twice after installing to allow the hotfix to install.

Note: under x64 the regkey is probably under HKLM\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Panda Software\Setup

How about some details on the upcoming 1.5 release? I guess it is close to completion now.

Give it some time... there's millions of hotfix downloads so far but it might still take 24-48 hours for the entire userbase to get it.
