That is rule 14, of course. However, IMHO, it depends. Ignoring adolescent lulzers playing king of the hill is always prudent. OTOH, ignoring disruption attacks on discussions of security, privacy and anonymity may be foolish.

I agree. It would be irresponsible not to issue occasional clarifications when necessary. Otherwise, the purpose of this forum is undermined. The attacks are obviously calculated to disrupt communication among posters to this thread.

In terms of hosting, I'm interested in evaluating your role as well. Your willingness to defend my site against political or cyber attack depends as much on your commitment to resist political pressure as on technological capability.

Some might consider what Bahnhof and ThePirateBay do as "activism" rather than taunting.

Steve, Of course you have detractors who are simply out to discredit your business, and they should be pointed out and ignored. However, you do a lot of discrediting yourself with the years of erratic customer support, followed by promises of improved customer support, followed by the same old slippage. You've promised people freebies that haven't been delivered, you've told people you'll use them in this or that project or feedback, after which they've never heard from you again. Undoubtedly most of this is because Xerobank is a very, very small operation. At least, that assumption would mean that you don't purposely treat your clients with indifference. Now and again these ignored customers come forth and too often you lump their complaints and anger with the tactics of jealous competitors. Stop doing that. There are many legitimate grievances against Xerobank for the reasons above. Shape up your own operation's deficiencies as well as worry about empty-headed people who are making up things to discredit you over.

I just read a potentially very relevant article.

    Doesn't that seem familiar?

Of course, I use and recommend a similar "persona management" approach. However, I do no evil. Really. I mean that.

Edit0: OMG, the Daily Kos post is amazing.

Edit1: Here's the US Air Force solicitation.

Web 2.0 for sockpuppets. Now trolls have the ability to be destructive as well as a pain in the ~Removed clever possibly offensive word~.

IME, you can -- with limitations. Although your client can download, it can upload only to peers that it's found to download from. That's because XeroBank doesn't implement port forwarding, and peers can't find you. Of course, you could set up an anonymously hosted seed box, and communicate with it via XeroBank. However, your account might get hosed if someone tracks you back to XeroBank, and complains loudly enough.

Just use a non-US exit node and we won't get complaints.

The only time we get complaints about torrents is when xerobank users are doing file sharing while connected to a xerobank exit node in the USA. So just use a different exit country while connected to xerobank, or turbo privacy netherlands.

Although I have no direct experience, I suspect that you'd need port forwarding for that, which XeroBank doesn't permit.

Depends on the client/server relationship. ex: I run Left4Dead over XeroBank on UDP protocol and it works fine.

You'll need paid vpn to be able to do that. Free mode will be limited to web stuff and some torrents I think.

    Steve,

It's March 1st, 8:45pm GMT. The Xerobank Forum is still down. There is no indication on Xerobank.com that the service and the nodes are back up and working. There is also no indication of additional nodes, or Clarion, or any other service. My log in on Xerobank.com does work, so the credentials must be active. No one has responded to my email to Xerobank support sent through Dalpay.is, and Dalpay wants to know if the issue has been resolved.

Please help out your paying customers by posting here the actual nodes that now work. DN's and IP's would work fine. Please also confirm the three months credit you mentioned earlier on this thread for paying customers. It's a waste of time for your users to try to figure out which nodes are working. You can give that information now.

Canada to Netherlands still works. Two nodes. Is there now a US exit node working?

Having used Xerobank's support email from within Dalpay, do you still wish me to send you an email? Which one? The address here on Wilder? When will Xerobank's forum be back up? That would be a far better way to contact you and support.

    Thanks.

is there a free alternative to that? I don't need to be anonymous. I just need to have different IP when playing games :)

I can hit it just fine, guess DNS isn't propagating quickly. The problem should resolve itself when dns updates.
