"Barracuda" is also the code name of the upcoming 11.10 version of the Opera browser. This is the first of a series of Opera versions where each one will have an associated code name.

    obarracuda.png
Barracuda: a sleek fish with a torpedo-like body, dagger-like teeth, and a ferocious appetite. Built to hunt in the ocean, it relies on surprise, agility, and bursts of speed to overtake its prey. The barracuda can even consume larger fish.

The first snapshot build of Barracuda will be made available in the near future, and the full feature set will be revealed some time after that.

As a hint, we can mention that another popular Opera feature will be taken to the next level.;)

Watch out for this thread !:D

    Isn't the Barracuda nearly extinct?

What is Cookie2? Perhaps third-party cookies?
Pity they are disabling TLS 1.1 and 1.2, now it will take even longer for websites and other browsers to adopt it.

Installed this fish of a browser and rock stable for me.:p

Tried to crash it but cannot.

Feel more like a 11.10 RC with its long list of bug fixes.;)

But that's me and you cannot expect to have the same great results as I always have with Opera.

I mean this in the friendliest way, but if Opera had people like you in their marketing department, I have no doubts whatsoever that they'd actually get somewhere with browser share percentage. On-topic, my Opera-worshiping neighbor will probably find Barracuda flawless, lol. We'll see.

I'm surprised no one has noticed that Barracuda is so great, their first changelog appears to consist of removing or disabling things, that's it.

Just tried my Opera 11.10 on the javascript conformance Sputnik test and again, it didn't crash and register a total of 75 failures.

    Capture.jpg

This experimental plot illustrates how the latest stable versions of the most popular browsers perform compared to each other when running Sputnik on Windows XP.

The distance to the center shows how close the browser is to passing all tests; the further the browser is from the center the more tests it fails. The distance between browsers shows how different they are; the more similar two browsers are – the more test failures they have in common – the closer they will be. Hover over each browser icon to see the number of failures and the number of differences between that and the other browsers.

Maybe you look at numbers differently than me..but I don't see anything "spectacular" or "horrid" with neither your or my numbers. I used FF 3.6.12 btw, and didn't crash either (I was also streaming some pretty hefty video at the time..how's THAT for stability and performance?). Point is, failing a few hundred out a few thousand tests isn't even worth discussing (not in browsers anyway). It does not crown Opera (or any other browser) as victor. You probably should also take into account the significance or insignificance of each test, not look at each as just a pass or fail. What does each pass or fail actually mean? How is it important to the user? If it's just a techie test that won't mean jack during every day usage, then who in the world cares? It's just another example of benchmark obsession at that point.

Not trying to rain on Opera or your parade, but there is such a thing as perspective :)

You can kid yourself with your "perspective" but you can't kid others with the facts.:p 257 Firefox failures vs 75 from Opera speaks for itself.

Sorry to interrupt your video but your show is over ! :D

It must be a trip living in your world, lol. I can just picture you sitting there, with that smug smile, past Opera benchmark printouts framed on your desk, maybe even a couple on your wall. Admit it, you have Opera merch at the house :D You've bought the keychain, the coffee mug, hell you may even have a jacket. Anyhow, my "perspective" is that these "tests", while informative, mean nothing for actual, every day usage. Seriously, Nan, explain every single one of those 5200+ tests, and then point out how each and every one affects Uncle Joe's ability to check his Gmail account, head over to Facebook to slap up another picture of his mug, and catch the newest Youtube craze.

Do that for me, and I might very well join you in that nifty little world you inhabit ;P

You should know that those 5200+ tests aren't meant for the Uncle Joe's or kids and even if you tried to explain, they just don't get it.;)

Living in the Opera House that has a fire place and a fox doormat would be nice but that would be too nifty to have you there.:p

Not meant for them, nor of any use to them. It's lab work, and you know it :D In any case, congrats to Opera for passing another benchmark--test--, and I'm awful happy for you and your bride. I know you're just beaming with pride :D It's too bad Opera never works for me, I'm not that fond of where FF is being taken. I guess I'll have to move in with Noob. I bet his place is decorated better anyway, since Google likes all their stuff so sleek and such.
