User can remove the blocks or simply add them to an always allow list of ip's.

Have you updated to latest version, and if so, does it block IPs? I had updated two days ago, but it wouldn't block any IPs. I had to revert to previous version.

I tried it BUT I had a current issue with MS Office 2010 and had to remove it for a while. Will try later.

They have a forum you could visit.

Wow, I thought it was a dead project! I'm glad to see its still being developed! I use to use it, but i had been told that it also blocked a lot of good connections as well. It can be a great compliment to your firewall if you don't feel like keeping up with the updated block list. Now a days I just add a block list to my firewall.

Wasn't there some kind of issues with this latest release? I'm still using the Beta without problems as of right now.

I experienced a problem, yes. It wouldn't block any IPs, so I revert to previous RC version. But, a few days later, I installed it to a relative and it was blocking IPs, so I gave it a try on mine and it was blocking too. No idea why it wasn't blocking at first.

All is OK. Very stable... works fine. :)

Just to inform that I'm making use of the "portable" version. I don't know if any issues were/are/will be happening with the installer version.

Is anyone able to update their IP block lists from -iblocklist.com ? I can't, and when I access -iblocklist.com, I get a connection timed out error.

Lists from other sources update just fine.

I reluctanly had to remove latest and greatest version.

It would update BUT never seemed to block or allow zip.

The log/history showed nothing sooo I removed it.

    I have

    W7 64 bit
    Eset
    OP FW Pro 7
    Roboform
    KeyScambler

Maybe a conflict but I have no clue WHY PeerBlock won't function.

    Any ideas?

I wish I had a definitive answer for you... all I can say is it works as advertised for me on:

    Win7 64
    LNS & Win7 FW
    Avira
    Win Defender

FWIW, after many years of using ESET, I found when I migrated to Win7 64 it became nothing but problems for me on my desktop and two laptops. I am not saying Eset is the culprit and you have probably tried the process of elimination, but if not, you may what to see if taking ESET out of the loop and see if it helps.

Thanks for replying. Eset is working okay as far as I can tell BUT before removing it as a test for PeerBlock can I ask the thread if any of you guys and gals are using Eset 64 bit AND Peerblock together with no issues as I have tried to describe.

One possible cause on my set up would be the block sites in Eset, Host and in OP FW pro. Maybe just maybe they are blocking the Peerblock sites which do seem to vary a lot by country.

    :doubt:

I know this isn't exactly regarding PeerBlock, but regarding lists that can be used by it, so I don't consider it to be off-topic.

That said, is anyone else having problems connecting to -http://www.bluetack.co.uk ? I get my lists directly from there, instead of I-blocklist, but it results in error every time, since the last couple of days.

That's one of the reasons I went over to I-Block a long time ago. I haven't found Bluetack all that reliable since the days of Peerguardian.

Actually, I used to rely on I-blocklist, until sometime ago, when they started getting hit with DoS. I switched to Bluetack since then, and has been OK. I'll switch back again.

    Thanks for the feedback.

    Hello Thread:

I have always had doubts about the sites that are used to deliver updates to PeerBlock. :thumbd:

Some of them were educational institutes and in counties I would prefer NOT to receive packets from. :thumbd:

But I do have blocking functionality in place from:

    1
2 OP FW Pro IP Block list (17,000 plus)

3 And country blocking via ESET http web address management.

So, when running PeerBlock, it blocks nothing it seems the other ip filters beat it too the punch.

This avoids updates from questionable countries and rotating educational institutes.

I realize I have duplication twixt the multiple lists but I don't care with I7 my setup is easily able to deal with this.

The concept of PeerBlock I really like, :thumb: BUT I fear the quality of their update lists when one day they come from country x and next from country y. Educational orgs are well know sources for hackers and malware.
    :doubt:
So unless someday the product can be put on a more reliable host basis and draw ip addy's from safe sources I'll avoid it.

I'm not trying to be controversial or cause a debate I'm merely sharing and describing what I do and think at the moment. :D

Again I don't expect everyone here to agree.

But if they don't I would like to know how they suggest the quality of hosts and input lists be handled.

Does Outpost Firewall Pro get that list from Agnitum itself? Or, you actually need to download it from a third-party?
