It would be very nice to see some system performance benchmarks of these against some of the really light ones (LnS, et al).

I've been meaning to upgrade/change my FW, but I detest system resource hogs.

Any experiences about the new Outpost?

Im going to remove avast and private firewall from my laptop tonight and give it ago.

The downloaded file details now says its version 7.1

 

Security Suite like this really impressed me, how come they just gave it to the masses for free. ..while other company keep on making money on their paid products.

I was then thinking that only Comodo could provide a well built Security Suite for free but Outpost has a big kind heart providing free security tools to those who can't afford reliable protections.

This was really good for average pc users who didn't know much about multiple security. It's an all in one solution that they can rely on.

This program looks tempting, really attractive, but still my individually put protection software gives me more peace of mind than to any security suite I have ever known.

 

what software do you use Sweater ?

 

Did they use their own anti virus engine or outsource it?

Does Outpost use a whitelist, if so can we edit it like comodos does
I'm not refereeing to the anti-spam list BTW

I also when searching on the internet, I couldn't find any firewall software that would let you edit their whitelist, let alone looking at it. Does it seem that they need to hide it. I don't know

Doesn't seem to include password protection either, which makes it not an option for me.

Now that there is a free version of this available I was hoping for some feedback (due to the probability of a much larger user base if it is free). Is there anyone using this on Windows 7 x64 and finds that it runs without any lockups or crashes? I really like this suite but have had stability issues with it in the past. One time it froze at a UAC prompt and corrupted my Windows install. Not wanting a repeat of that. Thanks.

 

I have used the pro version by itself and it slows down my laptop noticeably. It also crashed a few times while I browsing folders. IMO it still has stability issues on x64.

 

didnt for me a few months ago, worked fine on my x64 and was pretty light

 

Seemed to work ok for me for a while on Win 7 x64. No real issues that I could see.... I didn't run it too long though, only about a week.

 

Thanks everyone that replied. I did some testing in a virtual machine today but it was 32 bit. Seemed good there but that doesn't mean much until I put it on a 64 bit machine. I have a paid license but then again I have paid licenses for 3 other products I am not entirely happy with.

 

Running light on vista 32 bit laptop. But I faced lockups and freezes when using previous version in my 64 bit desktop. So I will not try it in my desktop.
