I have had version 4 running on a network of server and 14 workstation for some time now. All has been fine updating using the http method. I am in the process of installing a new server which will replace the old one but not until all applications have been crossed over. As a start I installed ESS on the new server and setup the mirror using our current licence file. The mirror created OK and I have shared the mirror folder but when I try to update from a workstation it fails to connect. The update will still work when I revert back to the old server. I can't work this out. I tried a different port number with no joy. I'm wondering perhaps if the licence file will only work on one server? Has anyone got any ideas?

Did you enable the HTTP mirror too (Next to the normal mirror, it's an additional checkbox). Also, try if it works on the local machine, type in: http://localhost:2221/update.ver in a browser and see if it downloads.

i wouldn't install ESS on server, install NOD32 Busness Edition and set is as desribed here
also, use ESET Remote Administrator for mirror, tasks etc., its far more transparent, read the Basic setup guide here

Thanks for the reply. The mirror is set up OK and to be sure I checked against the settings in the old server. All is the same. The workstation will update from server 1 (old) but not server 2 (new). I am not sure what you mean about the localhost download, which machine - the server or the worksation? For the record, the server does download but the workstation will not.

My mistake when I said I installed ESS. It is the business edition - same version as on server 1. I did try RA a few years ago and gave up on it as I couldn't get it to work properly. I can't remember the details now but the point is everything is fine on server 1 but I can't get server 2 to work.

    Hi,

As suggested above, it would be better using ERA for this task. Since you said ERA was not working for you as the local mirror server, could you please try again using the following recommendations?

    Server configuration
    Clients configuration

Please let us know if you're still experiencing any issues.

    Thanks.
