I have firewall set for learning mode. When gadgets did not work, I deleted the rule for sidebar.exe figuring program would ask and I would give permission. However, my weather and stock gadgets are still not working.

    Help would be great.

Try temporarily disabling the ESET Personal Firewall to see if the gadgets are working.

If they are working, then try going to 'Automatic Mode', and then back to 'Interactive Mode'.

If you are still not being prompted to create a rule, then you can try 'Learning Mode', or uninstall ESS from the ESET Program Files folder - uninstall applet - available from the Windows Start menu, and then download, and install ESS version 4.2.71.2.

Works in automatic mode only. Neither learning or interactive ask permission.

Am already using the suggested version.

    Any other ideas?

    Many thanks.

    Hi gberns,

Are you running the latest version (4.2.71) of ESS?

If not, please uninstall ESS then reinstall as per these instructions.

Let us know if this makes a difference.

    Thanks.

    System tray icon reports 4.2.71.2.

Should I still do the uninstall project?

    Hi gberns,

Did you try going to 'Automatic Mode', and then back to 'Interactive Mode' as recommended by DrewD?

If so and the problem persists, yes, please uninstall ESS and then reinstall.

Let us know if that makes a difference.

Had to do remove and replace. First thing I was asked was permission for gadgets.

    Thanks for your help.
