While I have no direct experience with ATI and Rollback Rx, I too have had the same issue with other imaging software. Please read this post.

Thanks for the reply n8chavez! I'm glad I read your post. I did not know there was a limit on the number of activations with the license. I do not believe my problem is related to your post though. My problem is that ATI will not work when I have Rollback RX installed. I cannot restore my PC using ATI when Rollback RX is installed. The restore process I believe is being interrupted by Rollback RX at boot time. I had to uninstall Rollback RX in order to use ATI to restore my PC. I was wondering if there was workaround for this. I like Rollback RX because iit only takes like 2 seconds to create a snap shot, it's snap shots use very little space, and it restores your PC extremely fast. It could save me a lot of time beta testing if it would work with ATI 11. I can always count on ATI 11 so I will not consider replacing it. I'm going to be trying drive snapshot next. I just hope drive snapshot does not work like FirstDefense-ISR because i tried it and it takes forever to create a Snapshot, and each snapshot used more space than a full restore image from ATI. I never used it to restore my PC so I do not know how long FD-ISR takes to rollback your machine. I though FD-ISR was designed primarily as a quick recovery snapshot application, but it performed like a complete drive imaging software except it was much slower than ATI or SP in creating restore images. There are some die hard FD-ISR users here, and I would like to know why they like it so much. Maybe FD-ISR restores your PC much faster than most full disk imaging software. If that's the case then I could see its value then. Sorry for getting off topic. I see you use Drive Snapshot so can you tell me how long it takes on average to create snapshots, and how long it takes to restore your PC on a 7gb installation of Windows XP? Also, do you think it would work with ATI 11?

The standard way of using Rollback Rx with a separate imaging program would be to take snapshots with Rollback when Windows is active or pre-boot, and to keep the other program's (e.g. ATI's) autoruns and services turned off. The other program should be reserved either for offline usage in raw mode (i.e. sector-by-sector backups so that the "free space" containing Rollback snapshots would also be preserved), or for use (either offline or online) at times when you uninstall/reinstall Rollback Rx anyway to defrag your system and to perform other maintenance.

I sometimes used Acronis Backup & Recovery 10 that way with Rx and it worked fine on my system (note: I only ran Acronis from a BartPE or emergency boot disk.) I did try a number of backup programs from Windows with Rollback installed, but they either didn't work or produced unreliable backups and generally ran slower.

Thanks for the info Pajeen! If that's what I have to do so that ATI will work with Rollback RX then it just defeats the whole purpose of using a Snapshot software for me. I will have to look at other options. Thanks!

Acronis was like Nero for me. It was the best and had my undying support until they messed it all up. Now I won't touch Acronis (or Nero).

I believe ATI 11 is the best version Acronis has ever had. I'm glad I have it on my XP machines. I use Shadow Protect on my W7 machines, and have found nothing more reliable or nothing that performs better. Too bad SP is so expensive. I believe a lot more people would use their software if it was not $89.95 per home license. I will need 2 more license soon, and i'm seriously thinking about switching to something else due to budget reasons.

    Hello all,

Thank you for sharing your experience with Acronis products. My name is Anton and I am writing you on behalf of Acronis Customer Central.

farmerlee, Noob, King of Rapture and PoetWarrior, thank you for your positive comments.

I would like to recommend additional resources that will help you get acquainted with our software. I noticed that you have been discussing Try&Decide a lot. We have an article in our Acronis Support Knowledge Base that explains how it works in details, you can find it here.

If you are interested to download a trial version, you can check this link for Acronis True Image 2011 Home and this link for Acronis Backup and Recovery 10. We offer technical support for the duration of the trial period.

    sk7v2,

Unfortunately we do not have the resources to continue to develop Acronis True Image Echo, we are concentrating on Acronis Backup and Recovery 10 which has Windows 7 support.

    xxJackxx,

If there is any way we can help you with the features that you find unreliable in our program, please contact Acronis Support team at www.acronis.com/support and provide me with the case number.

    Cutting Edgetech,

We have backtracked several features from Acronis True Image 2011 Home to the latest build of Acronis True Image 2010 Home, it has a lot of improvements and several key new features. Please check this article for details.

    wtsinnc,

Acronis True Image Echo had known issues which we have successfully resolved in Acronis Backup and Recovery 10.

    valnar,

Please let me know if there is anything I can do to assist you with the issues you had with our software.

    Best regards,
    Anton Deev

Is it per home license or is it per computer license. If it is per home than the price is very reasonable.

    Best regards,

    KOR!

Unfortunately, after trialing B&R10, I don't find it superior to Echo Workstation. It takes longer to install, has more services & requires a license server that periodically bugs out. The interface is convoluted & lags heavily. Networking credentials are not always remembered. From what I have tested, B&R10 is a regression. I have been an Acronis supporter for many years but I believe it is time to move on.

If anyone wants a change from Acronis, I highly recommend the TeraByte products. One license gives you the ability to image from DOS through Windows Server. I've never had a bad backup or restore. It takes a little bit longer to learn, but its worth it.
