Always nice when a new kid hits the street :) Anyone know where the changelog is, or have a clear comparison between v4 and v5?

That's because the product is technically ready and Symantec have uploaded it on servers for their OEM partners but it is not advertised yet.

As usually new versions of Norton leak first in Wilders (the same happened in the last summer with Norton 2011 , remember) :thumb: :thumb: :thumb: :)

Antivirus/antimalware engine 2011 compared to 2010 in v4 - this is may be the biggest improvement.

Do you guys know the difference between the client and OEM version of N360 v5? I've noticed the retail version is a smaller file compared to the OEM version.

Absolutely no difference - the OEM file is bigger because it contains stuff that the regular version download in the first update

You need some time . As I wrote , N360 version 5 includes Norton engine 2011 compared to Norton 2010 which is included in v4.

    What's new in Norton 2011:
    http://community.norton.com/t5/Norton-Protection-Blog/What-s-new-in-Norton-2011/ba-p/285976

Additionally there are some underground changes such as SONAR 3 which you cannot see but they are there . You can see them by testing against malware N2010 and N2011 at the same time on different computers , for example.

How much I/O & CPU does it use?

Does it need to be rebooted during the install process?

Hi Bellgamin, No it does not require reboot while installation. But there is something which I hate about this N360 5.0. First of all, it always get hanged while navigating to the option. Slow browsing.. One thing which I noticed in this new version is that, whenever the GUI gets hanged it always give me an option to connect tech. support. I don't know why the heck they added this option ...

If this version is a beta then why is it possible to activate a retail v4 key or continue your leftover subscription from version 4? Did the beta with the same build number carry beta tags on the main UI?

I can't quote numbers, as it depends on how long your system is on etc.. But it is very low compared to other AVs I have tested. I you leave your machine idle for a while, the AV scanner and disk defragger will run, which will drive up the numbers. But they can both be disabled.

Overall Norton is very, very light, with the one exception being handles (4,700).

I don't know, don't have much experience with Norton beta's. I do know with Avast for example they don't have separate beta keys. If you want to beta test the paid versions you need to activate the trial(which might not be possible if you previously already completed a trial period on the same computer with an older release) or use a paid license.

If Symantec asked majorgeeks.com to remove N360 v5 from their site, does this mean this build is not the final version? How confident is everyone that this is the final build? It does match up with the latest NIS 2011 build.

    This is the final build!!!

A given product is first BETA , then RC , then TR (technical release) . TR is official . Symantec needs time to prepare to officially make it available worldwide , educate support , produce boxes worldwide . They have very strict plans re this . This is the final build and Symantec has given it to their OEM partners who should start pushing it to their products (such as laptop manufactorer who will install it on new laptops) .

This is the build - first final v5 one . I am confident ! 100%
