What are the difference between the normal NOD32 client and the NOD32 for Microsoft Windows File Server other than the price?

Nothing, if you are talking about the license. :)

If you are talking about the new "ESET File Security for Microsoft Windows Server" which is currently in beta. This product uses the new 4.3 engine which has been optimized for use on servers.

On my ESET price list I have an item called "ESET NOD32 Antivirus for Windows File Server" with a list price of $150. In all my installs of ESET I had always just used the normal ESET NOD32 client on my windows Servers. The price list is from August so I wouldn't think it would be beta software.

ESET sells a separate licence for just Windows file servers . For example if you want to protect just the server with the ESET solution you can get this licence - single license for ESET NOD32 - that will work on server (too).

ESET also sells Business edition of NOD32 that can also be installed on servers . Business edition starts from 5 machines + so if you get a business license for NOD32 for 5 machines - you can install this on 1 file server and 4 workstations (for example) , or 3 file servers and 2 workstations (for example).

In some countries getting a 5 user ESET NOD32 Business license is cheaper that getting just 1 license for NOD32 for Windows File Server . As I said the first one allows protection for 5 machines including a server . The second one allows protection for just one machine - server.

So if I am understanding you correctly it is a difference in how things are licensed and not in the product?

Yes - the product is technically the same for any kind of home or business user - it is ESET NOD32 .
