Network Connectivity

I have a Toshiba vista home premium laptop computer connected to a network by a wrt54g router. I have lost the ability to connect to the internet through the router. On this same computer I can dual boot with Linux. I can connect to the internet through linux but not the windows.

 

You don't provide a lot of info to work with, but start by pinging the router to determine if you have a connection. Then it may be a router setting or an OS setting, hard to say without more infos. I personally would just put a static ip on your machine to see if there is connectivity to the router at all. I would also put in your DNS servers manually, again to bypass the router. If you can ping a remote address using manually entered ip/dns, then you know it works at least and you can focus on software settings instead of hardware.

I resolved my problem by restoring my system from an earlier image I had made of my system earlier on an external hard drive. I am going to have to do some updates.
