Spywareblaster 4.4 has stopped opening! Lost Access

That's right. You don't need to say much other than make it count when you do.

 

Thanks for the responses so far Javacool, here are my answers:

1.) When you try to open SpywareBlaster, are you successfully prompted with a UAC prompt? Yes

After answering "Yes"/"Accept" on the UAC prompt (when trying to start SpywareBlaster):

2.) Does the SpywareBlaster window display at all? (Even a quick flash on the screen?) No
3.) If you open Task Manager (CTRL + ALT + DEL), and select the "Processes" tab, are there any "spywareblaster.exe" processes listed? No


I have emailed you the Process Monitor Log File (zipped), as requested.

I have sent two requests to Javacool Software pointing out my loss of the SpywareBlaster programme.

They have not yet responded.

I have not sent a log to anyone - not yet downloaded the aforemntioned test. I have not done what Alsatian has done

Look forward to your evaluation of the problem when you have analysed the log he has sent to you via e mail.

UPDATE:

1. I installed Secunia PSI software checker and ran a few updates (eg HP Update, one or two Adobe updates)

2. Microsoft Security Essentials had a software update today

3. Noticed I had two versions of Java installed - uninstalled the earlier version

Spywareblaster is now working!!!

Not sure whether it was an MSE thing or the 'other' software updates/uninstalls - but who cares - it's now up and running again

HERE'S THE FIX WE HAVE ALL BEEN WAITING FOR!!!!

The last post (no. 30) from T Jolly actually fixes the problem with SWB 4.4!!
It also fixes a problem with the atest MS Office security updates failing as well.
So all problems were due to registery errors which the brilliant little fix it program completely cures. Just use the link provided and then select the "fix it for me "link to run or download the program.

Everyone who has become so frustrated with SWB not opening - please use this fix because it works and is very simple.

So please ny SWB is back and working.

Hmm! SWB has stopped opening again - since the last round of MS updates apparently!

I have re-downloaded and installed the link (as per post #30) - everything is fine once more. Looks as though instead of consigning it to the recycle bin after use, the 'patch' is best kept on the desktop for future use!

 

SP stopped working and after answering "allow" to th UAC it gave the following message:

Error while unpacking program, code 2. Please report to author.

I am just reporting this, as I immediately reverted to an image backup of my system and after getting the latest upgrades of all of the programs I use, SpywareBlaster4.4 is working OK.

tried reinstalling
going to try the MS link given above

Spybot (with t-timer i think), Avast, Comodo

checked fix by hand and reinstalled SWB
still NO open
There is a second option-i'll try that
the HKLM key is "common app data" not "app data"
and data is %program data% not
%USERPROFILE%\AppData\Roaming

any sugestions?
