    Hi there,

are there any other free alternatives for Comodo Time Machine?

And, is CTM still in active development? The last release was on July 26, 2010.

Keriver 1 click & CMT both have a pre-boot, which means you do not need an emergency CD/USB

Keriver is image backup, CMT tracks partition changes on segment level and stores the old segment data in a backup (hidden in the free space on a partition). Advantage of this last approach is that you only backup the segement level changes, in stead of whole files or in Keriver's case a whole partition image. Advantage of the image approach is that it has a near 100% succes garantee (simply because it replaces every bit of a harddisk partition).

Isn't System Backup 10 Special Edition an Imaging/Back Up software, too?
Unlike CTM, System Backup 10 Special Edition takes several minutes to Back Up...

-Does it Restore within just a few Seconds (like CTM)?

There is a significant Time difference between the SnapShots
taken by Rollback Rx/EAZ-FIX/AyRecovery/Comodo Time Machine (within a few Seconds)
and the SnapShots taken by Imaging/Back Up software (several Minutes).

I installed Paragon Special Edition 10 (offered via Giveaway Of the Day) and found it to be nothing more than another imaging application from Paragon.

No snapshot capability that I know of.

As far as a free alternative to CTM, there was (maybe still is) a program named PCTimeMachine.
It appeared to be a near-clone of AYRecovery Pro.
I tried it briefly last April or May and wasn't really impressed.
I went back to CTM and remain a happy user.

Another big advantage of disk imaging is that backups can be stored remotely, allowing restoration to a different drive if you suffer disk failure.

You don't get it. I have activated my license a year and half from promotion. And was working.
When i say "it will expire" that means that it will pass 1 year since i have installed it on my computer (and for 1 year is the license valid), not that offer will expire.

So are people using Comodo Time Machine on Windows 7, 32 bit without issue? I heard there were issues with some operating system or another, maybe it was XP?

For the sake of being different,I switched up Rollback Rx to give Comodo Time Machine a run on my XP-32bit system. So far, after 3 months of use,no problems to report. I also know, there are many who have had issues,so keep that in mind before you try it ;)

    @ Mr.PC

What is being pointed out here is that the offer is still valid despite saying it expires december 31 2008

I've been using CTM 2.8 for a while. I've done just a couple of restores. No problem whatever. Using Vista 32 HP, all current updates.

I've tried others, thus installed, uninstalled and reinstalled CTM a few times. No trouble whatever. I'll stay with it until something free and better comes along.

I keep a clean backup on an external HD, too, just in case.

Yeah I guess for some people it just works. It worked for me fine. I also was able to use rollback RX without a problem. I'm not sure what the common link is for people that messes with their MBR. I never had a problem with it. I might go back to it. It was easy to use and it helped running new software.
