    Update: bug report sent 1/15/11 @ 0300

    XP Pro 32 SP3.

Big problems with AG after uninstalling the latest beta version of Online Armor. I uninstalled OA beta, and reboot my PC. After the desktop loaded I got a prompt from AG informing me to inter an integer between 0 and 1. The only problem was it would not allow me to enter a value in the box. Memory guard, and MBR guard had also become disabled. I killed AG's GUI from the task manager. I then opened AG again from the start menu, and received the same prompt. AG still would not allow me to enter any integer in the box. The sliding bar is also disabled. I then reboot hoping that the problem will go away. The desktop arrived again, and this time I receive a different prompt saying, " please enter an integer between 1 and 1440. AG still would not allow me to enter any value in the box, and all AG shields are disabled now. The sliding bar is also disabled. I close out the GUI from the tray icon. I then open AG GUI from the start menu, and once again the prompt appears stating, " please enter a value between 1 and 1440. All AG shields are still disabled. I reboot several more times, and each time I continued to receive the 1 and 1440 prompt, and all AG shields were still disabled. I close the GUI from the task bar and tray icon several more times, but each time I would open AG's GUI the 1 and 1440 prompt would appear again. I then decide to uninstall AG, and reinstall AG. After installing AG again I still am receiving the 1 and 1440 prompt, and all AG shields are still disabled. I tried uninstalling, and installing AG again with no remedy to my problem. This all started after uninstalling Online Armor, and rebooting. This does not make any since to me. I guess its possible Online Armor removed more than itself, but not likely. I'm sending my windows log files, and AG policy file along with an Msinfo file to BlueRidge Networks, and Emsisoft Online Armor. Is there anything else that i should send?

I got this error in the past as well, and it went away after a couple of reboots. This time it would not go away after a reboot, and uninstalling and reinstalling AG did not help either. I could manually remove all traces of AG, and then reinstall again. I may try that later later this evening. At the moment I have to prepare bug reports for Online Armor. I've had double the work because each time I run into bugs I report them to OA, and AG since i'm beta testing for both. I normally don't test 2 beta products on the same machine, but OA & AG are 2 of my favorite Apps so i want to make sure they run well together.

Update: Bug report sent 1/17/11 @ 1215 am.

AG is still blocking Chrome on my W7 64 Ultimate. I have tried the following to keep AG from blocking Chrome.

    1. I lowered AG protection level to medium.
    2. I set all memory guard selections for Chrome to no in the guarded apps tab.
    3. I also set all memory guard selections for windows host process (Rundll 32) to no in the guarded apps tab.
    4. I selected the google folder in the following directory as an exception for guarded apps. C:\Users\Watch Tower\AppData\Local\Google

I can see by looking at the event log that the memory guard settings that I changed for Rundll 32 are not taking effect. They are not changing. They are staying the same in spite of changing them numerous times. The GUI shows them as being changed.
I can also see that the memory guard settings that I changed for Chrome are also not changing in spite of changing them numerous times.
My windows logs are saying the same thing as the event logs, but with more detail.
I believe the data I have collected this time may be enough to fix this bug if its not something that is wrong with my system. I do know that if I set AG protection to low then Chrome works with no problem. I'm going to send another bug report. I hope this can be fixed. I don't normally use Chrome. I'm only doing it for the sake of beta testing.

Appguard blocking IE from updating windows when protection level is set at high, medium, low, and also install mode. I had to completely disable protection. Is this normal? I mean.. is this the way AG is meant to function? I have event logs, and windows logs if they are needed. XP Pro 32 SP3.

No it's not normal, but neither Online Armour or AppGuard are designed to be run together. Running both is going to hinder how each operate, resulting in errors, hangs, BSODs and general OS instability.

Anyway, I'm off to consult my pet rock on some issues.

I set Appguard as an excluded application in Online Armor's exclusion list so OA should not be interfering with AG in theory, but it is still possible on some low driver level event. I am not a coder so i cannot diagnose an exact cause or fix. OA is a HIPS program, and AG is an AE so it should be possible to run them together. I'm running OA, Avira, and Prevx on this machine now so that I can narrow down the cause of some of the bugs i have been experiencing. If things start running smoothly again I will see if AG, and OA will run together again. I have AG, and OA running smoothly together on W7 64. I'm running a non beta version of OA on that machine so it appears they have the potential to be compatible. I do understand that with every new build released there will always be potential for conflict, but whos to say I have to upgrade to every new build. Newer is not always better. I don't want to dump my firewall. I've been using it for almost 4 years now.

Uhmm just asking but for what do you need avira, online armor, prevx and appguard in realtime?
Do you really think that all that real time protections are necessary?

There will always be problems, slow downs and bluescreens on your system.
And you can't except that ppl from Blue Ridge Networks waste days for checking why your application may have problems if used togheter with appguard.

I'm running Avira (AV), Prevx (compatible with all AV's). OA (Firewall).
I'm not running AG now with this setup. Sorry for the misunderstanding. I was just running it with OA for testing purposes. If I decide to use AG then I have the option of dropping one of my other real-time apps. If AG will not run with a firewall that has HIPS then i can see that limiting their market because most personal firewall are adopting some sort of HIPS.

Updated: also i forgot to mention it does not mean it is AG's fought. I'm beta testing for OA also, and their getting beta reports as well.

It has been awhile since I installed this product. I am utterly amazed at how far they have brought it along. It reminds me of what Defensewall would be like if 64 bit. It is very quite and very solid. This may be the one product to keep a eye on this year.

Kudos to BlueRidge, you have done an outstanding job on this. I love it.:thumb:

Preliminary testing in our lab indicates that we have solved this problem.
