When you boot from the Keriver image boot disk an make an image is there a way to verify that image? I booted from it and made a successful image but didn't see a way to verify it.

No, there is no specific option to verify your image that I can remember. And I don't know if there is some automated internal way included in the software, probably only River could tell us more about this.

I can only tell you that I backed up and restored maybe 12 or 15 times with no one single glitch, FWIW. Very reliable for me (and fast), on win 7 ultimate x64.

I've asked River about this in a support ticket and if you'd check your computer and see if you have this in event viewer under custom view Administrative. I'm using Windows 7 Pro 64 bit and I get this when I run a backup from with in Windows.

    Code:

I didn't encounter this error message before because I always made all my backups from the boot CD. Now I just made one from within windows and, yes, I can see this same 8194 message in my Event Viewer. Actually there are two of them, one at beginning the backup and one other at the end of it:

Yes if I make one from within windows I get that on both my 32 bit and 64 bit Windows 7 computers. If you do it from the boot cd it's OK. I had been doing it from within Windows cause I'd like to verify the image. I also have Macrium Reflect the paid version on this computer and when I back up from within Windows using it,I get no such error message. River said it's probably cause I don't have Administrator rights but I'm the only one on this computer and I am the Administrator. How did this thread get so stretched out?

I am also in admin account on my system... And now I can see why you would like to be able to verify those worrying backups.

Btw, I made a restore of this backup image causing those VSS error messages and all is fine, as far as I can know.

Heu, stretchy can also be sexy, at times!

    Hi Squid13,
This error is not critical and doesn't lead to fail to create snapshot of drive using VSS. I found some information from this link: http://social.answers.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/w7repair/thread/34b62c1b-93e6-4848-a9a0-59e3f4019ebb

I will do some research to find why it happen.

    Thanks.
