    Hello,

ESET has not yet announced a release date for a future version of its software. When the company does, though, it will be mentioned on the forum.

    Regards,

I understand you sometimes have to give that kind of answers. But in fact, we the community and the hardcore fans, have never heard any teaser about version 5. Although we have asked many times.
So maybe not the release, date but a timeframe for the ETA (for example a month). Or give us a teaser about a new function which will be included.
You guys are now quite some time busy with developing, so it will be too late too cancel big things anyway.

And you'll never hear anything from the "Sleeping Beaty" unless it wakes-up. But if you search the Internet in the proper place you may find interesting for you information regarding the matter discussed here - of course all is unconfirmed information because "Beauty" never talks to anybody.

Well version 4 came out March 2009.

I don't see version 5 coming out by March 2011 as it will be in beta first for about 8 weeks!

Some people are getting a private link to the "latest" version 4.2.71

I would love some definitive news on the subject, like everyone else who uses the forums, and im quite bewildered at the lack of news coming out on the subject, especially as we are now nearing the 2 yr release mark from version 4.

It would be nice to have a beta soon with community more involved than last times. For example, with 4.2 there were only 2 builds and the build released publicly wasn't even beta tested. It would be nicer to release beta builds more often and test the final before making it public ;) Some more info on estimated release(even if it's just which Quarter of the year) would be nice too :D

Additionally, ESET will continue to focus on advancing the portfolio of consumer and business endpoint security products for all supported platforms: Windows, Mac OS X and Linux. The next generation of ESET’s flagship product ESET Smart Security for Windows will be released for public testing as a beta version in the coming weeks, with the final release coming later in 2011. Overseeing the main technology arm of ESET will be the new Chief Technology Officer Pavel Luka along with the Chief Software Architect Tomáš Kaláb. As accomplished developers, Luka and Kaláb, have already participated in the development of second-, third- and fourth generations of ESET security solutions.

Beta date is still unknown :( All we got from CEBIT is the planned official release: this August.

I think they will release the first BETA in one or two weeks. They have no time.

This is not good news for those I have turned on to ESET.while I went another direction there is nothing bad I will say about ESET.happen to like both cloud computing and HIPS(w/light footprint) plus get answers when I ask for them + auto updates.unfortunately most of those turned on to Eset have limited computer skills and would be clueless what to do when V5 does come out.I'm their go to person that will not be here in a few months so in this regard while they like it as I did for years the program could be a problem forcing many to something else except of course those who purchased a multi year license, and none belong or believe in forums = not so swift news

I really love the way how ESET builds their interface, high quality, clean and modern, also their typing. Starting a name with a capital and then just small letters, like it should be. In general they use the correct punctuation and syntaxing. I hope the translation to Dutch will keep that formatting.

Examples: ESET uses "Parental control" where in contrary all vendors type "Parental Control". And "Computer scan" instead of "Computer Scan", "Cloud info" instead of "Cloud Info".
Love it! Some of you will think I am a freak I guess.

I'll keep it in mind when reviewing the dutch version before release ;)

:p The current version is well translated. In contrary to example avast!, which does hurt on your eyes :D. The ESET model with distributors might have the drawback that it can take some longer to release all localized versions, but it does guarantee quality.

There is one error in the Dutch translation though, in the Help documentation. Under Dialoogvensters -> Antispambeveiliging -> Instellingen -> Antispambeveiliging. The page contains the following content: The right content will be here soon

Well, we don't actually translate the entire product. There are professional people for that. I (we) just review the finished translation to make sure everything is "ok".

I am already looking forward to see how the "Home" tab of version 5 will be translated. "Thuis" or "Start", they both suck :D, but I don't have a clue what else it should be. "Thuis" will be the best option though, considering the icon.
