Your Malware Removal Toolbox

We talk a lot on these forums about preventing malware of course, but I was curious what type of software folks use to actually remove malware that has gotten into your system or a friends system?

If you were going over to a friends or a family members house to remove malware from their system, what would you bring and why?

Also, I recently ran into some issues running Hitman Pro for example. The malware on the system continued to shut it down and I could not get HMP to run. What would you do in this case? Is there another tool that you can always get to run?

Thanks for any feedback guys...just really curious about the type of tools and why, that other people are using. This isn't a "this is better than that" thread. Just want to know what you find to be effective and any.
